So the first Squarebashing Day is now complete. Bob was taken poorly and had to drop out, which meant I dropped out to help out the new players (which was always my plan). Given only 6 players we knocked the team event on the head and just lined up some suitable games.

Looks like it was a successful day. Well done!

Looks like they had a good time. One question though – what are those circular things used for on each side of the table?

They are circular dials that allow you to keep track of turns or, as in this instance I suspect, the number of actions taken by a unit/s during the game. We use them to track barrage missions per artillery regiment for example.

I have never seen those in SB games, a mystery!

Those mysterious dials are to track the use of assets: you set each dial to your permitted asset number [aeroplanes, suppression barrage, etc] and then reduce the number showing according to the number of dice you choose to throw each time you try to bring on such an asset.

The SB dashboards are an invention of Ray Boyles, who worked with Warbases to created a single MDF board which has a dial for each of the assets + the higher command orders + army special rules & status. Ray will post on the forum I'm sure in due course. They were the first time used in anger I believe on Sat.

There is also the 'stick' method for countdown to battle, which we came up with to shave 20 mins off the game length, so we can get a full game in in the time we have available at our club

I'm curious about the 'stick' method for the countdown to battle!
