I am considering assembling a Median army to face a friends late Assyrian force in Basic Impetus. Does anyone have any suggestions for miniature sources? Thanks |

Wargames factory Persians would be my suggestion giving an army mainly of cavalry then close order foot supported by a few light cavalry archers and light foot archers. |

Use Persian figures in trousers rather than robes. Herodotus is probably right when he says " The Medes had exactly the same equipment as the Persians; and indeed the dress common to both is not so much Persian as Median." He has already described the Persians wearing trousers. |

1st Corps used to have nice Persians, not sure if they still do that range. I think they were intended to be from the time of Marathon but I guess some of them could still pass as Medes. |

If you want some already painted ones: TMP link TMP link TMP link Those are Persians and many of the levy troops and the heavy cavalry won't work for an early Median army, neither will the Kardakes. All of the spara armed troops and the light cavalry and skirmishers should work for Medes though. |
