Are these of any interest for anybody, saw them online (I am unrelated to the seller etc)

they are the same size as Panzer III in 1/72 scale.

Not bad for 15mm

May give that a punt for £6.99 GBP for a light tank.
It's from Hong Kong so may be a while to be delivered.

They look quite 'polythene'… So =- if that's the case – getting paint to stay might be an issue.

Other than that, Matt's right: 8.5cm long is a good size.

At one point I had a couple of dozen 'polythene' tanks when I cash poor and time rich. Never had too much of an issue with getting paint to stick, but a good base coat, sprayed on for preferrence, is essential. I'd also recommend basing as it helps and one piece tracks can be obscured with side skirts.

Apparently free (slow) shippage to the UK, but none-to-dear to the US.

Must.
Resist.

And, yes, familiar with the whole futile thing.

Well when they do arrive Doug ill take some pictures with some 15mm vehicles / figures to see how they look… or you can try that futile thingy ;)

Cheers Matt

Well they arrived this morning 15 days from China.
They are the typical kids toy tanks in style. Plastic is actually quiet hard. I tried to bend one tank tracks straight and it cracked down the middle! Hot water will be required to straighten I think.
So on to pictures :)

How they arrived clear bag in a black bag!
Everything arrived intacted but wasn't the best packing!

General shots of tank separated. I really like the turret on this one could be used on lots of products. Tank hull itself is ok as said earlier tracks will need straightening somehow and pasticard used to box out. Which shouldn't be too much issue as to the small round inserts inside hull which look about right height :)

Right next up is some 15mm infantry from Peter Pig and GZG. Looks good to me as a MBT.

So, cheap pieces of crap, but really useful cheap pieces of crap, at an appropriate price.

Sounds like a win to me. ;->=

comstarhpg28 Dec 2016 9:07 p.m. PST

Agreed :)

AVAMANGO28 Dec 2016 11:25 p.m. PST

I think the plastic toy turret would look pretty good on that Brigade tank hull to be honest…

BlackWidowPilot Fezian29 Dec 2016 4:56 p.m. PST

@ROUetc. is correct. Kitbashed sideskirts and basing hide many sins:

Hi all, mine arrived this morning too.
thanks Matt for doing a review on them. They don't look too bad and without the turret could also be used as a kangaroo type personnel or weapons carrier chassis. They sort of look like a mix of an M60 chassis with a Merkava/Leopard turret.

Will have to wait to the new year now before a painting session. Hmm, what camouflage pattern to give them?

one thing not mentioned in Matt review is that the gun barrel is actually round rather than an expected oval shape and has a concave muzzle.

Nice job Blackwidow!

Great find too.

comstarhpg01 Jan 2017 5:50 p.m. PST

@ per ardua … Agreed on barrels being round. I had a couple which are a little bent but not an issue to straighten I hope.

@ Blackwidow. They are cracking :)

Cheers Matt

ROUWetPatchBehindTheSofa04 Jan 2017 1:55 p.m. PST

@Blackwidow, much better than my efforts!

If I was going to do it again, one trick I didn't try first time around was using styrene tube to hide thin, mould-lined, barrels. And for those of an economical frame of mind I got some pretty good hard plastic tubing from balloon sticks – the kind that get handed to kids by charities and such like (at least in the UK).

These tanks are painting up pretty well, I am or batting them into three troops
A troop in a Chinese pixellated camouflage style.
B troop in an Auscam coloured style
C troop in a Swedish M90 style.

TheBeast Supporting Member of TMP18 Jan 2017 5:13 p.m. PST

…but not an issue to straighten I hope.

Do tell us how that works out. I'm going to guess the vinyl trick of hot water, hold in place til cool, will work less well. I'd almost suggest a straight pin down the muzzle.

per ardua: If there's a way you can share piccies…

Thanks, per ardua, but it keeps telling me *I* don't have any photos. Which is true, but doesn't seem to point me to YOURS.

However, the thanks for the effort is quite sincere!
