I am a bit confused and I wonder if any of the learned brethren can help.
These figures (well the horses) have bridles that I would think of as "Light Cavalry" – with the cross harness across the "face". Had this become standard sadlery for all British cavalry at this time or may it perhaps be a mistake?
Any thoughts would be welcome.

I don't know chokidar, but by this period, mid Victorian, that would be a possibility I would imagine. Also, When when when are we going to see proper Crimean war zouaves? No you can not use federal civil war zouaves!
