It seems to me that Bolt Action using 28mm has each figure on its own seperate base. I guess this works well because 28mm have large bases so individual figures are stable. And the advantage is that casulties are simply removed.

But if you play with 15mm then the bases are much smaller so the figures are less stable. Normally you would base 15mm figures together on a base. Easier to move but then you would have to mark casulties, made more complicated if the unit has mixed types. Of course you could glue each figure on its own base.

So what do people normally do when playing Bolt Action with 15mm.

Cheers,

Nigel

If it's 1:1 skirmish each figure is typically based individually. Many people base their 15mm figures like this without any problems.

You only see multiple figures on one base if they're treated as a unit like in FOW.

Separate. Use metal washers for stability.

Separate, based on a small washer which allows me to group them on Magnabase bases for larger games.

I too use pennies but I have a stock of Warbases stands which allow me to use troops in elements if scenery allows.

Related question. And apologies, I am being lazy here as it would pribably be clear if I read the rules.

Say you have a machine gun, either as a two man unit or as two men that are part of the infantry squad – now that MMG or INF unit takes one kill and the attacker chooses the machine gunner what happens

1 – the MMG unit
2 – the designated loader in the infantry squad

I can guess that the loader in the infantry squad would become a rifleman but what about the loan loader in the MMG unit.

Similarly two man mortar, AT rifle teams.

Cheers,

Nigel

MMG and mortar teams come with posed figures and can be based together since they look better that way. Crew-served heavy weapons like artillery pieces or anti-tank guns can be based as a unit or separately depending on one's preference. In my case I base the crewmen separately and don't base the gun at all. But I'm speaking of 28mm figures.

WWII – separate – also on pennies which I now have to go to the US to get

I use 5/8" washers. I've blogged about it a few times.

Use the sabot bases by the likes of Brigade.

Best of both worlds.
