I had made a similar post on the American Civil War board and I enjoyed reading the replies. Does anyone have a favourite Regiment from the English Civil War? Also, why are they your favourite?

Not Regiments but companies, Ashetons and Mainwarings companies, my local units who opposed Rupert at Stockport.

Nice to see you still in the wargaming world John!
I remember you from my days at Stockport Wargames club back in the '70s!

For no real reason other than they were some of the first ECW units I painted, Sir Bernard Astley's foot and the Earl of Caernarvon's horse. Astley's previously being the Marquis of Hertford's and Caernarvon's going to a Col. Neville after Caernarvon was killed at 1st Newbury.

Anyway, plenty more here wiki.bcw-project.org/start

Weldon's regiment (nma) as they were the first I reenacted with, for ten years until their dissolution: and since 2004 the earl of Essex, sometimes termed the "Fanta regiment" because of our orange coats.
