And they're saying our prez-elect has conflicts of interests. Is a 4.5% stake really a big deal or is it much ado about nothing?

I seem to recall from that the US Securities and Exchange Act considers 5% ownership in a public company as constituting sufficient control to require reporting the ownership stake to the SEC. The Jones Act, which regulates ownership of US flagged vessels operating between US ports requires 75% ownership by US citizens, so 25% foreign ownership would be okay. So, considering the size of the corporation, 4.5% ownership is probably a big deal. Think about owning 4.5% of Ford, that would sure get you a seat on the board of directors.

Yeah, 4.5% of Ford shares sure would get you a position on the board, as that's more than either William C. Ford or Edsel B Ford owns!
