Do you play wargames:

- on a strict schedule
- mostly scheduled
- deliberately planned, but not really "scheduled"
- ad hoc
- mostly scheduled with some ad hoc

Me? Scheduled once a month (by SWMBO) and ad hoc for playtests, new ideas, and when the bug hits us.

Chokidar30 Nov 2016 6:29 a.m. PST

..depends on the quality of the prunes….

''and claret keeps me astonishingly regular.''.

JimDuncanUK30 Nov 2016 7:01 a.m. PST

I play regularly, once a year.

15th Hussar30 Nov 2016 7:09 a.m. PST

A rather personal question, if you ask me.

I'd write more, but I'm about to poop my pants!

21eRegt30 Nov 2016 7:11 a.m. PST

Our group games most every weekend at one of two houses or at a game shop. Some week there are two games. Sunday is our usual game day, but the odd Friday night slips in too.

Norman D Landings30 Nov 2016 7:16 a.m. PST

Weekly club game – two regular gaming weekends – average of two ad hoc gaming weekends most years.

mad monkey 130 Nov 2016 7:19 a.m. PST

Depends on how many burritos I've had….

ironicon30 Nov 2016 7:38 a.m. PST

Probably need to restate the question. I have not been out to the game store in 4 years. I am mainly a hobbyist now, painting and taking pictures of my stuff.

Old Wolfman30 Nov 2016 7:41 a.m. PST

Mostly scheduled;Near every month I meet w/ buds in Columbus ,OH to play Aerodrome, and I also check the con schedules for my main cons(CincyCon,Origins,GenCon,and ATC.)

Coyotepunc and Hatshepsuut30 Nov 2016 7:54 a.m. PST

For gaming, definitely ad hoc.

Otherwise, my medication keeps me running…

Mostly scheduled.

The part of the questioned not asked is: marital status. I think most married gamers find it hard to game more than once or twice a month. Am I right or wrong?

Yesthatphil30 Nov 2016 8:48 a.m. PST

Weekly mostly plus numerous weekend events and shows.

Phil

vdal181230 Nov 2016 8:57 a.m. PST

Twice a week. Wargames on Sunday mornings and Dungeons and Dragons on Thursday nights.
And a once a month (on average) wargame on Friday night with a friend who lives out of town.
And I'm married but to a very understanding wife!

Garand30 Nov 2016 8:59 a.m. PST

I have a decent amount of fiber, so no complaints in that department!

Damon.

Once a month

steamingdave4730 Nov 2016 9:14 a.m. PST

Usually a weekly game with friends who live relatively near and a once a month game involving an 80 mile round trip- that sometimes get missed if the weather is bad. Making up for lost time- had about 25 years with virtually no games; family life and a 70 hour a week job left little time for hobbies.

richarDISNEY30 Nov 2016 9:34 a.m. PST

Ad hoc.
I'm lucky to get to the table more than 4 times a year.

vtsaogames30 Nov 2016 9:49 a.m. PST

If we are talking about games, usually once a week. Though recently a combination of players (including myself) being out of town, various family situations and all, the 1870 battle of Loigny has been set up ready to go since early November and it looks like it may not get played this coming Thursday. If so, then it has to wait for another two weeks as the lead Prussian player can't make it next week.

If it doesn't go tomorrow we'll try out the new Triumph rules instead since that can fit on the dining table.

Weasel30 Nov 2016 10:04 a.m. PST

Lately, we've been gaming every Saturday which is nice.

Doug MSC Supporting Member of TMP30 Nov 2016 10:18 a.m. PST

About once a month we get together at my house for a game.

warwell30 Nov 2016 10:20 a.m. PST

- ad hoc
whenever I can squeeze a game in (so very irregular)

ashauace697030 Nov 2016 10:31 a.m. PST

Fortunate to play twice a week usually
Once at my home in the game room and Fridays in a great friend's basement

Shagnasty Supporting Member of TMP30 Nov 2016 11:04 a.m. PST

Have been gaming almost every Sunday for 12 years with an occasional other game. All that may change now as our FLGS has closed. We are now dependent on home gaming unless we can find a new neutral venue.

wrgmr130 Nov 2016 11:29 a.m. PST

Our group meets every Thursday. Every now and again we play a big game on a Saturday.

Rarely.

FusilierDan Supporting Member of TMP30 Nov 2016 6:32 p.m. PST

mostly scheduled except when something interups the schedule.

Bashytubits30 Nov 2016 6:55 p.m. PST

Real life keeps me from anything resembling a regular schedule.

Syrinx030 Nov 2016 7:08 p.m. PST

I have been lucky enough to have a group has been gathering once a week for decades. I generally get there 3 times a month. I occasionally get out to a convention or other venue.

COL Scott ret30 Nov 2016 8:29 p.m. PST

In personal habits very. In wargaming also, twice a year whether I need it or not. Real life keeps interfering.

Martin Rapier01 Dec 2016 12:20 a.m. PST

Weekly meeting at the club, we usually plan what we are going to play a couple of weeks in advance.

Thomas Nissvik01 Dec 2016 3:12 a.m. PST

Since the missus moved across the country to study for a few years and I only see her on holidays, I've been getting a game in just about every week.
We usually also put on bigger games a few times a year.

skinkmasterreturns02 Dec 2016 6:55 a.m. PST

To quote Sheldon,"Like a German train schedule".

45thdiv04 Dec 2016 4:27 a.m. PST

Work and family has kept me from gaming too much. I have been able to have a few games this year and hopefully more next year.

I think I have had more time painting this year, but that's becasue I can grab an hour or so here and there.
