OK you blokes and blokes of a female persuasion, how did I miss this? Or have the BBC been keeping it well hid? link |

I never knew, until there was you. Thanks Trajanus. Don't really want Greg Wallace presenting. I'd rather have Richard Holmes. |

Carthaginian wrestlers vs Roman board gamers. What's not to like? I will watch it. Sounds like an Asterisk the Gaul cartoon. |

Sadly, Richard Holmes has been dead these five years, and is still missed. I will suspend judgment on this show until I see the episodes. Not sure we get enough hobby related programmes to be picky, really! Mollinary |

Highlight of the last series was Al Murray (the pub manager) wiping the floor with the opposition at Raphia. Turns out he's a history graduate with an interest in all things military, and knew the battle. |

Jarrovian, I'd recommend Al Murray's 'Watching war films with my dad'. |

The BBC advert last night had clips of Waterloo and an appearance from Mike Loades . |

Yeah, not sure about Greg Wallace either. No actually I am. He gets on my nerves "Cooking doesn't get tougher than this!" As for Mike Loades, if it's got horses and stabbing things in it, he'll be there. ODing on enthusiasm as always! |

TC was always a bit cringey, but you can't be too fussy about wargaming on tv – you have to take what you can get. Wallace, though… that's too much for me. Leering, grunting, D-lister with zero credentials. Al Murray or Adam Hart-Davis would have been brilliant. Dan Snow, Neil Oliver, Harry Pearson, Tony Robinson – all infinitely preferable. |

The first time around I was one of a group of wargamers how tried to get on, the BBC where not interested, they like it when they can make them look foolish and tell them where they went wrong. Didn't Radio 4 Eddie Mair present it the first time round ? |

I'm always concerned that with Mike Loades he'll suddenly snap and start randomly attacking people with a sword. I used to fear for the extras on "Weapons that made Britain". And it seemed the their previous expert, Aryeh Nusbacher (now Lynette), just seemed to get too much into the role of military leaders: "Now I'm Julius Caesar…no, really, I AM Julius Caesar, and I'm not going to bother attacking the Gaulish centre…I'm going to go straight for the baggage train at the back. And I'll swoop down and kill the women, children and camp followers because I'm Julius Caesar!" All accompanied by wild sweeping hand gestures. |

Perhaps Greg can supply some back ground info on ten thousand Watusi warriors armed to the teeth with kiwi fruit and guava halves. |
