Should tournaments have a division just for gamers 55 and older? |
thorr666 | 26 Nov 2016 2:44 a.m. PST |
Isn't that called the historical section? |

No? and Why? Presumably this is reference something in fantasy/sci-fi hobbies? I can't see the relevance to regular wargaming … Phil |

As you probably know, some sports have special competitions for aged players eg Rugby Golden Oldies: link This is designed to protect older players wanting to participate in a physical sport. I hesitate to ask what disabilities the "older 55s" might have to warrant a separate contest? |

Not at all. I enjoy beating those young bucks. |

I'm 66 and I don't need any … What was the question? |
Winston Smith | 26 Nov 2016 7:47 a.m. PST |
Is this a serious question? |

How about a special division for short people? |

Bill McHarg | 26 Nov 2016 10:05 a.m. PST |
How about a section for dice impaired people? Oh wait, the games would never get over because no one would roll any damage. |

No, it's not sport but a game that most ages can play. |
rmaker | 26 Nov 2016 11:29 a.m. PST |
No. They should dump the tournaments. |

I'm in for brandy and cigars. I've already aged out of the beer and pretzels division. |
Weasel | 26 Nov 2016 2:58 p.m. PST |
We'll split it into three age-categories. 1: "Won't finish the game because everyone is busy telling anecdotes from that WRG game back in 1978". 2: "Won't finish the game because their wife/husband just called and told them to come home" 3: "Won't finish the game because this facebook page doesn't update itself, you know" |

regular wargaming What does that mean? As I'm (just) over 55 I'm probably to old to understand, mind you… John T |

Do other tabletop and card games (chess, poker, backgammon etc.) have separate vets' divisions in tournaments and competitions? |
KSmyth | 27 Nov 2016 12:43 p.m. PST |
This isn't basketball or softball. Don't think age brackets are needed. Besides, aren't we supposed to be more experienced and more clever. I'm 61. |
JMcCarroll | 27 Nov 2016 1:43 p.m. PST |
At 55 I know need to ask myself if I can play with younger people in a tourney? |
COL Scott ret | 28 Nov 2016 10:35 p.m. PST |
Perhaps it is so those younger whippersnappers don't feel too bad when us mature gamers beat them. Just turned 55 this month, however if there is a discount for getting into a convention then I am all in. |
