Over the years I have built 7yw armies in 15mm, 20mm, and 28mm. Today I received my first Minden figures and they are beautiful. In fact I'm a little afraid to paint them, as my painting may ruin their beauty. They are by far the best looking castings I've seen, nice clean and sharp. Photos do not do them justice. My only concern is that they will not fit in with any of the figures I already have in my 28mm Armies. Mixing manufactures has never been an issue with be. Usually I will try and keep a unit to one maker, but different units of different makes, no problem. In my Armies now I have units of Foundry (I call them the 40+ year old battalion), Crusader, Old Glory, and RSM. I'm not too sure how the Mindens fit in. If I was just starting to build these armies there would be not question, it would be 100% Minden. Why so many scales and makes? Good question, The number one reason is the lack of complete line, the mounted figures weren't the same size as the infantry, or I just didn't care for the poses of the figure (I've ridden for a number of years carrying a sword and never did I hold it straight out to my side nor with the blade laying across the top of my head). All I really wanted to say is how pleased I am with the Minden figures. If I get a chance I'll try a post some photos comparing the to other makes and hopefully I can paint them well enough to post some photos of them finished. |

Of the manufacturers you listed, the Minden will look best near the RSM as their anatomy is similar. Less so with Old Glory, then Foundry, then Crusader IMHO. That said, I have a SYW collection that includes all of the above plus Front Rank, Venture, and Eureka. There are even some Hinchliffe in there. Since they are all based the same way, I find they don't clash too bad. Of course, your mileage may vary! |

AICUSV: I totally agree. Mindens have spoiled me. They are the best out there. Check out Crann Tara Miniatures as well. Same sculptor, same casting company. The two lines are completely compatible. |

I'm planning on order some of the Crann Tara as WAS is really my favorite period. |

"In fact I'm a little afraid to paint them, as my painting may ruin their beauty. They are by far the best looking castings I've seen, nice clean and sharp." I have the same feeling right now just before I start painting these beautiful figures. John |

"Were do I place my Mindens?" I have no idea where you should place your Mindens. |

Don't be afraid to paint your Mindens. I think that they are easier to paint than most figures. If you miss a detail here and there no one will notice when they are in a battalion. |

My SYW project will be 100 minden/crann tara. The only other i would use would be RSM, but they are a lot less detailed. |

I'm finding they paint a lot faster than than I thought. |
