Gathering the wounded together Asmara looks over their wounds and then prays to Sarenare. She Channels Positive Energy twice healing back 3 + 5 = 8pts back.

Summary of party's health as follows:
- Halee 15 out of 15
- Ansic 25 out of 25
- Risandor 14 out of 14, used one round of Inspire Courage
- Uthalin 24 out of 24
- Thomas 22 out of 22
- Baby Cord 13 out of 13
- Asmara 10 out of 10, used Channel Energy twice and one first level spell
- Trone 20 out of 22, diseased
- Dedrik 12 out of 12
- Ghislain 12 out of 12, diseased
- Penn 12 out of 12.

Trone and Ghislain don't feel that well.

Halee takes a closer look at the wounds with Asmara providing assistance to see if they can identify what is making Trone and Ghislain feel sick. Asmara will need to make a DC 10 roll to provide assistance. She rolls 3 + 1 Wis = 4 and has no idea. Halee will need to make a DC 13 Heal check and has a Wis modifier of +2 so she'll need to roll an 11. She rolls a 19.

"Ohh" Halee sits back after examining Trone's wound. "Looks like you've got Ghoul Fever."

"Is it bad?" Ghislain nervously asks.

"Well yeah actually it is. Worse case it'll kill you and you'll rise as an undead ghoul, ala what we just killed" Halee responds, her bedside manner clearly needing some improvement in compassion.

"Wha….wha…what? How long will it take?"

"Depends." Halee then goes on to describe the disease.

[DM's Note – The disease will take a day to onset and then once per day the character will need to make a Fort DC 13 save or suffer 1d3 Con and 1d3 Dex damage. If they make 2 consecutive saves they'll be cured. If they die then the character will rise as a ghoul.]

"Asmara, can you save me? You know, pray to your god?" Ghislain asks.

"No, I'm not powerful enough. I think you'll have to break the fever through bed rest or just plain tough it out."

[Ghislain needs to make a morale check to continue on at this point. It'll be a base DC 15 + Risandors Cha modifier of +9, -2 for losing a team mate in the previous combat and the combat experience/training modifier won't help with this morale save so he'll need to roll an 8 or better. He rolls a 20 and will continue with the party.]

Clearly shaken Ghislain looks around at the group and then slowly stands up. "Ok, you guys have looked after me so far and have always been fair with paying me and healing me. Heck you've even bought me equipment. Let's get to the caves and then when we get back I'm sure you'll help me to beat this disease."

Is the illness bad enough that Trone cannot operate for a day or so, or would it be a better idea for him to return to the Inn and sweat it out in bed?

The onset is a day, so you are fine for 24 hrs. After that, you have to save again. If you pass, you are sweating it out. If you fail you take the CON and DEX damage.

Then the next day you have to save again. Once you make 2 consecutive saves, you have cured yourself. If you make one save, but fail the next day, you take the CON and DEX damage and still have to make 2 consecutive to cure yourself.

I believe ministrations by someone with the Heal skill who attends to you during your rest can give a bonus to your check if they pass their Heal check, I'll have to look that up.

If you take damage to your CON and DEX, they start healing at 1pt a day for minimum 8hrs of rest w/no strenuous activity that entire 24hr day.

Unless we get access to Restoration magic.

Question, so what happens if a player character turns into a ghoul?

Sorry guys I've got to take a few days off. Got a few issues to deal with on the work front.

PC = Ghoul? Ask the DM…

Most would convert the PC into a monster and declare them non-playable. Some might find it interesting to try and roleplay it out, but the DM would have to come up with House Rules to govern it.

Ghouls can have class levels, and I have played in one campaign where one of the PC's started as a good-aligned ghoul Oracle.

I enjoyed this thread. Any chance it is good to continue?

After Dark Eyed Warrior (DEW) had gotten his work schedule back on track – We had reached a point where a large chunk of the players were no longer available to send in their actions, so this petered out.

DEW is creating a blog centered around a new group and new game. He has a DM PC, and I've submitted a new PC. He is still working the kinks out and fleshing out the campaign area with depth and background.

I am sure when he is ready, DEW will post a link to it here on these boards for any who are interested to visit and see the campaign play out…

Hi Davoust.

Yeah mate I ran into some serious time troubles late last year. Over the Christmas break however I did get a chance to work out how to start a blog which is probably a better format rather than posting to TMP which is a bit more difficult to do because you've got limited control over format and need to host pictures elsewhere etc.

So anyway I got a few emails from a few guys wanting to start again so we're just in the process now of kicking off a new campaign. In the end I figured it might be a good opportunity to change up the setting just a bit and also to change some of the admin which what was what got me in the end last time.
