The Sci-Fi Train is finally done!
I'm pretty stoked at how it turned out even though there were some significant examples of Murphy's Law along the way.
Lots more pics of every car and processes described here: link |

Nice job. I like it a lot. And the paint scheme works very well as does the armored up look. Maybe this will motivate me to finish mine, which is a Lionel train with 40k bits stuck all over it. I need more skulls though. ;) |

Thanks! May I assume you were inspired by the Necromundicon 40k train? His work is what got me thinking about this many years ago, and the diesel he more recently did for the Votom's Campaign was a nice inspiration to finally get mine finished. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with! |

LOL, back in 2011: TMP link And mine is very much inspired by this: ironhands.com/train.htm My friend and I made a good deal of progress on the my train, but things got 'derailed' when I couldn't decide how I wanted to paint it. |

That train looks great. It would be equally at home in 40K or Infinity. Solid work! |

Thanks for all the kind words folks, I'm really pleased to have this one all done. Pictors, Glad to hear it, I really wanted it to be multi-genre. John Leahy, That was actually one of the inspirations. I still haven't seen the film, but I saw some of the pics online. I like the big and blocky look. Mr Whitten, HA! Didn't recall that we'd had this same conversation. 5 years, eh? I think it's time for you to finish that train up! As I said in the blog post, I used the highly technical color selection process of "Let's see what colors I have in the spray can crate". Maybe that would work for you? :-) |

Looks so good I want to pull "the train job" on it! |

Well done. I really like the use of scifi mini accents to set the tone for the whole piece. |

Thanks all, Etotheipie, I definitely lucked out that my buddy had a bunch of the Sedition wars doors that he didn't need. Made it really easy to tie the cars together visually and bump up the sci-fi element. Originally I was planning on using the small doors for the ends of the boxcars too, but as it turned out that would have made the platforms too small for a 25mm base to balance on. richarDisney, Haven't seen the GoM movie, but the stills of the train from the film were an inspiration. |
