Editor Julia has been doing a great job with the Rules Directory, with over 1,300 rulesets listed so far! Today, another area of the Rules Directory is finished enough that we're ready to take your input as to what's missing. That area is: ANCIENTS (up to 500 A.D.) TMP link If you think of a game or ruleset that is missing, just post the title and publisher/manufacturer in this topic. Thanks! |

I did not see Easy Eights Battleground listed. |

I wasn't aware that covered the Ancients period. |

Perhaps it would be better and easier to list them alphabetically, rather than numerically. |

Strategos and Strategos II, by Phil Sabin, published by the Society of Ancients. link Also Legion by the same author and publisher, but now intended for use with counters, so not sure if you want to add that or not. link |

Simon MacDowall's Comitatus isn't there- also his Legio rules. Legio rules are there – all three versions! Comitatus rules are medieval, not ancients. |

Added: Strategos Legion Sword & Spear Broadsword Ancients: Scutarii Mortem et Gloriam |

Hi Bill, Comitatus are ancient rules- they start in the Late Roman Empire and end before 1066 IIRC. |

OK, will add Comitatus to Ancients. The subtitle says "Dark Ages' but they cover from 250 AD. |

Hi Bill, The WAB entry shows a picture of WAB2, but there were two other books prior to that one and in fact, the text you have with the listing is for the previous two incarnations. WAB1 was released in 1998 and WAB1.5 (The best one!) came in 2005 as a re-print of the original rules, but with errata, clarifications and extra army lists added to the back of the book and are very different from the WAB2 game (released in 2010) and lists. Might be worth an update! :-) Dave |

I can't see Hammer's Slammers: The Crucible on the SF lists. I wasn't aware that covered Ancients, John. |

I have looked through the rules I have and have a few that are not on the list. Sorry for being a few days late – i have been busy socialising! I also think it is great that Editor Julia has got so many! I have all these printed rules so I can help if you need with details. There are also a few on the existing list that are sparse of details that I have and can help with details there too. I have included links only where I knew an easy linkable source. Phalanx (Phil Sabin) link Phalanx was used a lot with miniatures when it was played, even though it is hex based. Ancient Rules (Irregular Miniatures) Still available from Irregular Miniatures A to Z Rules Ancient Warfare link Tactika An Australian production – WRG on steroids! Bronze Iron and Blood Axe and Arrow Battle: Wargames rules for Land Battles 3000 BC to AD 1900
Arcane Battle Composer 5mm Ancient Wargames Rules Bijou Battles Warriors of Antiquity And lastly, my own rules that are available as a download. I do know a few others use them: Ancient Battlelines Clash link |

In order to keep a growing list manageable, I would suggest the creation of three categories: - Miniature Wargames rules, in print - Miniature Wargames, out of print - Boardgames that have been adapted to miniature gaming; these usually include their own boards and counters. |

When you sort the list by rating, shouldn't there be a minimum number of ratings required for a set of rules to appear. If the author is the only person to rate the rules, and gives it 10, it will appear at the top of the list. I suggest a minimum of 3 ratings required to be included when sorted by rating. |
