I have been approached to assemble and paint a whack of Warlord plastic Celts. Basic painting, some plaid/stripes, no shading. (He wants to use a dip over them) I'd be making wire spears.

The problem is, I have no idea what sort of rate to charge.

What's the norm?

Assembly, block painting, dip and spears, my feeling is around $6.00 USD to 7.00 each. If they were metal, no assembly $5.00 USD to $6.00 USD.

$6 USD-7 each sounds about right.

I'd time yourself doing a few then work out how many you could do in x amount of time. There's your price. $6 USD sounds way to cheap to me but it depends how you value your free time.

I'd also find out if he's expecting you to improve the joins in the figures with green stuff or similar.

Ditto making spears and of course buying the raw materials for them.

Figure out how many you can do an hour, and charge what you need to make in an hour.

5 to 6 sounds about right, but if he is going to dip them…so no shading and minimal highlights then a buck less…… my 2cents

Thanks to everyone!
