So I have a box of PSC Churchills (5 tanks) with no specific unit/time frame in mind. I am wondering if the following list is good for a generic Churchill troop in 44-45 NW Europe is OK?

1 x Mk.IV 6 pounder
2 x Mk.IV 75mm
1 x Mk.V 95mm CS
1 x Mk.III AVRE

Obviously they won't get fielded at the same time, but with 5 models available I want to go for a bit of variety.

the avre would be in a separate engineer unit, the 79th arm div and not dolled out to tank troops, they would be used as and when extra firepower or defences needed sorting out.

Shaun: You are correct and I am aware of that. What I meant in my original question is that since I have 5 models to build I might as well build one as an AVRE and use it whenever the scenario requires it. My main concern is if the other 4 is an acceptable mix for a generic troop or should it be a little different.

It seems reasonable. One 6pdr and 2 75mm was a typical mix in a troop.

The 95mm was at Sqn HQ [2 vehicles usually] and deployed where needed.

The AVRE is the odd one out as noted above – but you have a spare so why not.

DO they have a Crocodile option? I'd be tempted to go with that.

The classic war gamers answer is buy a second box and do 3 troops each of 2 x 75mm, 1 x 6pdr, plus the HQ CS tank. In fact another box and do the whole squadron. :-)

Timbo for the win!

Timbo: LOL, if I have a big enough table to field a full sq of 15mm tanks each side I would. But that also means I need a bigger house to have a room for a bigger table!

It's a slippery slope ;-)

sounds like you have no other option than to buy a larger house…..

Well, you do get two turrets on each sprue, so why not make a range of different turret options (a couple of AVRE, a couple of 95s and maybe three each of 6pdr and 75mm?)

I have boxfuls of alternate PSC turrets for various models – very handy for the great Sherman gun conundrum:)
