I'm thinking that the Escape from Colditz boardgame would be vastly improved, aesthetically, by substituting minis for the bland, generic pawn tokens used to represent Allied POWs and German guards. Armed Germans are no problem, but where could I find 15mm or 20mm figures to paint up as Allied prisoners? That is to say, uniforms are great, but no carried weapons. The game calls for Americans, British/Commonwealth, French, Polish, and Dutch captives.

Someone made POW and guard figures – don't now remember, but I think they were 25s.

There is a set of generic prisoners that are not in allied uniform but might work for you. The downed pilots may also be useful.

Ebob do a range in 28mm including huts etc:-

Sgt's Mess have lots of figures that could work for the inmates in 20mm:-

For the guards I'd recommend this range from Britannia ( guys in greatcoats and a guard with dog):-

Hope that helps.

If you are referring to the republication by Osprey, then you will probably need 15mm figures or even smaller as the spaces the pawns sit in are really quite small.

Or building a 3-D model set-up with spaces big enough for 28's!
=^,^=

I bet you want to do that Major B.
The ebob figures are really sweet and there's a special deal just now – 4 for the price of three.

No. The game board is big enough as it is. I wouldn't have the room for a board big enough to use 28mm figures!

Yes, it was the ebob figures that I had seen before.

Great stuff, thanks for the leads, brethren!

This project moves forward.

For 15mm you could possibly look at gun crew or some officer figures. Peter Pig do a lot of extra poses that might work for this.

Peter pig do surrendering poses for brits ( and germans) you could head swap to put an un-helmeted head on them.

Yes, I had been thinking that officers could fit the bill nicely. Usually unarmed, or might be painted as such, minimal conversion necessary.

Wargames Foundry makes a set – pricey but compatible for the Colditz game.
