Yep, this definitely confirms that the sleek, low profile armored vehicles of yesteryear have definitely been thrown out the window. Wonder if this is their Ogre Mk. 1 design? |

It is an artillery piece. Not very hush hush when firing and not sure .5 or 1m less would make a difference if by misfortune it had to fight in contact. Otherwise for those inside, the tech gear etc. it would make a difference. Your note on the APcs and other recon were more relevant. Would not be surprised if all these armies who only had in mind insurgencies with half inept ennemies for 20 years, and utterly inept RoE, had lost touch with what a real big tough fight be with a decent, willing modern ennemy. Just like I was facepalm in Stan with people thinking no need of tracks, armor or artillery. No need to pierce those mud walls ( lessons from 1919 war anyone?). " peace warriors" oxymoron. |

Was reading article on 2S35 Koalitsiya-SV (152mm gun) and it was "supposed to" have a rate of fire of 16 rounds per minute with a maximum rate of 20 rounds per minute. Having served in an M109A1 (150mm howitzer) unit we had a rate of fire of 4 rounds per minute for 3 minutes and then sustained 2 rounds per minute. The reason for that rate of fire was mostly due to not overheating the barrel. How do the Russians keep their barrels from burning out/exploding? |

How do the Russians keep their barrels from burning out/exploding? By the collective belief that Putin's greater Russia can ignore the laws of physics or by the power of RTV? I wonder if the ROF is the theoretical limit, the comment about 'blue print for robotic systems' makes me think its packing an autoloader. |
