Nice painting , just a couple of observations though. Any officer wearing a peaked hat would quickly get shot dead so they carried rifles and wore helmets just like the men, also its unusual to see a late war British infantry unit where nobody carried a shovel strapped to his belt.

Very nice. I agree with Wargamer6 but does anyone know where you can buy separate 28mm shovels, I want to add them to my Crusader British and maybe add leather jerkins with green stuff.

Thanks for the compliments and advice. I'm not sure I'm up to modifying the figures to add shovels. As for the chap in the hat – I agree, but he came in the pack so I painted him!

The formation – nothing specific yet. These are 'generic' figures for now to bulk out the main infantry. I'm definitely painting up some Bren carriers for these to ride in, but that doesn't really limit my options very much.
