I just finished cleaning the mold lines off a bunch of older Foundry AWI sculpts. It's amazing how much the AWI figure scale has crept up. These look tiny compared to the latest Perry metal or plastic releases. I don't think that I would ever mix them in the same unit. Way to small.
So, now I have nicely cleaned unit of 36, that need a name and a uniform scheme. I am leaning towards the red, faced yellow of Webb's Additional, but I am open to suggestions.

These are obviously early war type sculpts, so it's has to be a New England regiment. I have most of the other Additional Regiments done like Henley's, Sherborne's and Hartley's.
Any suggestions?

I don't have anything particularly helpful to add, but I've always liked the look of Webb's regiment.

A few ideas, which may or may not be authentic (info taken from Mollo and Ospreys, I think; can't recall for which year(s) these uniforms may have been worn)

Blue faced green – 3rd New York
Grey faced dark blue – 3rd New Jersey
Brown faced light blue – 14th Massachusetts
Dark green faced black – Sargent's Massachusetts Regiment

Bill – If you can, see if your local public library can obtain a copy of Katcher's "Uniforms of the Continental Army" for you. The descriptions are all written, so it will take a while to trawl through, but he uses primary sources to show what we know was issued, and also lists deserter descriptions, but more importantly, compares them (so you can see where there is a common item of clothing, suggesting uniformity, be it official or unofficial).

Mollo/McGregor is ok, but needs to be read very carefully – and not just because it's 40 years old! – as it quotes a lot of one-off uniforms, mainly officers or deserters, which can be misleading when trying to work out what a body of men was wearing at a particular time. For Washington's army, the two Osprey MAAs by Zlatich are better, as they too use primary sources to show what was issued (though not always what colour it was!).

Bren, I have Katcher's along with the entire Osprey catalog.
I've spent many an hour pouring over Katcher's and Richardson's Standards of the AWI.

I like the Webb idea and am going with that..

Now I have to decide on which Eurekas Ragged Continentals unit to name.
