While many flags had cords and tassels hanging off the ferrule many nations used cravats instead. These ribbon-like pieces of material could carry battle honours and were certainly in use by the Austrians and Bavarians. Many years ago I managed to obtain some (at Salute I think) but I can no longer remember who made them. Can anyone out there recommend a 28mm scale source? |

Try Front Rank EQ87 which is of course meant for 18th Century and so does not have an eagle….but might do for many other nations. Odd that they do not do the cravat for Napoleonic era |

Deadhead, thanks, that looks very close. It's not the item I used to have but if I cannot find it these will do. |

Hinchliffe I would bet. I had a Grenadier Eagle bearer of the Imperial Guard. He came with a metal rod and then a separate white metal eagle and cravat, it was even marked to help paint in the tricolour finish. He is still being sold, but I cannot find anything on the site for him to carry! link
I think the original appears here; link

But then I seem to recall it was tied in a bow at the top and then the streamers……. I have too much time on my hands. Our national communication system for our Health Service has crashed….it is all over our National news. A newly installed "improved" service of course |

Deadhead, those are the very items I have been looking for. Thanks very much. Funny how 'improved' government computer systems tend to slow everything down or simply not work. That's progress. |

Just realised…that is what I meant above, for sure. Unique However……The painter has mistaken the bow for the base of the eagle and painted it gold. (the one on the left) Does Hinchliffe still do this in its "new look"? link |
