Played a quick game of Nuts! today as a solo 6mm mini-game and recorded my first impressions of the system link

The 2-Hour is probably my favorite system for small skirmish actions. As with any thing we have a number of house rules and so on but the basic system is rock solid. |

We played Nuts and 5150 for a few years as our main games and had a good time. We threw out the "Star" rules right away. Not that they are bad for a heroic game, we just didn't want that sort of feel. |

We use Six-Gun Sound for Old West and I used ATZ for my solo zombie campaign. We've played Nuts! and I am working on figures for Long Rifle (FIW) and Sword Play (Vikings and other period ilk). As EC says, it's very solid and once you get the hang of it, flows smoothly as you'll rarely need to refer to the charts. Love THW! |

Thanks for posting laying in 6mm was brilliant. It's good to see other scales being used for skirmish games. Thanks again. |

The charts look scary but you internalize them pretty quick. The only time we ever found it to be a problem was in 5150 if you have 3 or 4 different alien races on the table. I should add that its easily solvable if you take copies of the relevant charts so each player has them in front of them, rolemaster style. ATZ is the only zombie game I've played that didn't bore me to tears :-) |

Weasel have you played the boardgame Zombicide? I recommend it. |

There was a WWII game at Fall-In! that covered part of Operation Cobra using NUTS!. The table was really beautiful and was an actual recreation of a specific part of the battle. The scenario ran very well and a good chunk of the players came back later in the day to refight the same game. |

Ivan, Second the recommendation for Zombicide. My level of interest in Zombie games is zero but my 8 year old, when he was seven, saw it second hand (long story here), we got it and he and I love it. But on the OP, I how found the only two games I have liked so far for skirmish games is Nuts! and 5Core skirmish. Both have variable activation and include reactions. Tough call between either – 5Core has less modifiers, but Nuts! differentiates between Vet, Regular and Green more. |

I've tried the first edition of 5150. It was a little too "dicey" for our tastes. It was still pretty fun though. I am interested in trying the newer iterations of the system. The In Sight check looks a bit better. I presume the combat system is a bout the same. We didn't take exception to that. Just picked up Nuts!: Big Battles. It looks great! It does not rivet count so those that want the slight differences between the 75/L40 and 75/L43 can stop looking now. For everyone else, this might be worth checking out. |

John, let us know how you get on with Nuts! Big Battles. I always have trouble with THW rules the first three times through or so, and NBB was no exception for me. Would like to know what you think. Still haven't tackled Morale Napoleon. |

I've been eyeing Morale Napoleon as well, but moneys been a bit tight. |

If you like playing Nuts!, I would suggest picking up a copy of the latest Nuts! supplement "Italy After Normandy." It adds more options during battle, more RPG lite options like taking your star on leave – gambling, women, fist fights, getting busted and more scenarios. |
