Compared to some of you seasoned veterans I am a novice when it comes the American Civil War with WW2 being my thing .However purchasing the Perry's Battle in a Box rekindled my interest in this period as it was my first period that I did in wargaming all those years ago using the Airfix range of plastics . The area that I am looking at now is that of flags .There seems to be so much choice in 28mm with various free and not so free flags .I am just wondering if you guys have some sort of pecking order for your flags for example if manufacturer A doesn't do a certain regiment then second choice manufacturer may cover it etc.? |

GMB is what I mostly use now. I normally would also recommend the Flag Dude but his customer service is terrible, unless you can catch him at a convention and buy in person. GMB is outstanding. |

Try Warflag they cost nothing apart from printing them and they look very good |

Flag Dude and GMB are both good. GMB has a huge selection for Union forces but his CSA stuff is not as extensive (Though it's growing). Flag Dude's CSA list is huge. |

You can google ACW flags and find some interesting ones. Copy/paste to your computer and print your own. It's free and relatively simple. Avoid the flag dude – you will regret dealing with him as his service is off-the-charts bad. |

Most of my current ACW flags are home made, produced on a basic Paint program which use surviving flags as models. |

GMB – Great flags and nice guy to deal with. Seriously considering going back and replacing all my non GMB flags on existing Units. |

The flag in your battle box from Perrys are the about the correct size, some flags are waaay to big. The federal one was 6`hoist, and the standard Confederate battle flag was 4`square. I`m not a fan of oversized flags. |

I've used both Flag Dude and GMB and, for me, its a 'pick-um' choice; both are excellent. There seems to be so much choice in 28mm And what a wonderful "problem" to have! |

Hi guys Thanks for your recommendations . With me being in the UK then GMB will probably me my first choice for well known regiments like those within the Irish Brigade. I think the ACW flags are some of the most attractive and colourful designs around so I think they deserve careful consideration . I did copy the Perry's Battlebox set using our firms HP Office Jet Pro copier and I was most impressed with the nice matt finished flags that came out . I think using top quality paper with further enhance them. So I may just use these for the generic flags . |

Let me recommend Solway; I've found them on Ebay and their service to US is quite good, so you should have no problems. Nice selection and lovely. |

For years now I've made my own flags using my computer and a cheap graphics package. I actually have come to enjoy to it as much as painting the figures. |
