Hi all
Finally finished this unit ready for a Black Powder game this weekend. Spanish marine infantry were a bit better than run of the mill line. I am rating them for BPO without the Wavering and Unreliable rules that curse Spanish Generals everywhere. I think that is OK. They are still not as good as Spanish Guard units who have Elite 5+ status.

Looking great – I do love the Spanish Marine Infantry.

I wouldn't have given them two flags after 1802. Prior to 1809 the individual battalions carried only the purple Coronela. From 1809 when regiments were formed, the 1st battalion continued to carry the Coronela and the other battalions the white Sencilla. But two flags does look impressive!

In 1806 the Marine infantry was reduced from 12 battalions to only four. In January 1809 these four battalions were increased by new recruits to 12, now grouped into six regiments. So while I would agree that these units could be classed better that normal troops in 1808, I wouldn't do so after January 1809 when they were filled up by so very many new recruits.

I wrote up my notes on the Spanish Marine Infantry and they are here:

My Spanish need all the help[ they can get. I am sticking with 1808 stats! :)

@Brian – with the paintjob you gave them, they certainly look like elite troops !
