In modern American English, these are townhouses:
A few sets of those at 6mm scale would be interesting for modern gaming. |

tabletop-world.com These are pieces of art even unpainted. Not cheap, but (imho) absolutely worth their money |

Glenn Goffin They look very nice but where do they keep the pigs? Inside? I suppose they call them town houses because there is nowhere to park a car . |

Vallerotonda, Haven't you heard of "a pig in a passage". It seems pigs were one of those animals that were kept in towns (for the obvious). I suppose peeps kept them wherever they could put them. Great models by the way – I still have some unpainted from my last Christmas purchase. |

When you see inside, with the roof and chimney removed, there is no hearth/fireplace? |

The old buildings had full internal sculpting, including furniture. The new "best choice" do lack these internal features. The surfaces are still scultped to a degree that shames most other buildings externals, though. You have to add doors, stairs and chimneys yourself if you care for internal accuracy (though some features like windows and doors are still included). For that, the price is down by more then a third, and construction of these went down from "hard" to "ready to paint". |

Vallerotonda: Each house has a garage and driveway in back, so not pictured here. That's where we keep the pigs. The front of the house is for visitors to see when they drive up and park at the curb. The residents never use the front door, because no one walks in a community of townhouses. |
