Can anyone recommend a source of 15mm acacia trees suitable for use in games set during the Sudan campaigns? Or something else to serve as scrub bushes? I'm not necessarily out for perfection; it just needs to lend the appearance of being appropriate to the environment. I'd prefer a commercially made ready-to-go product because my scratch building skills aren't very highly developed. However, I'm open to trying to make something if it's not hard. Any suggestions are very welcome. Thank you.

Wouldn't commercially-available reindeer moss work as scrub brush for the Sudan? Especially the tan / khaki-colored varieties.

If you don't mind ordering from O/S, and if the company is still operating, handmade acacias are available from Murray Bridge Trees and Terrain here in South Australia. We've often used them in African games and I can attest to their accuracy, high quality and capacity to convincingly 'Africanise' a tabletop.

I use the tan colored lichen but am looking for a little more variety. Many years ago I bought at a convention a few ready-made and based plastic "bushes" that I use in my Sudan games, but they're few in number and I can't remember from whom I purchased them. The trees from Murray are nice but just a tad larger than I'd like. But I'm definitely going to keep them in mind. Thanks for the suggestions!

You can find dried flowers in Michaels / Hobby Lobby here in the US that are dead ringers for Acacia trees.

They're hand-made to order, so they should be able to make them to whatever size you stipulate.

Is there any links for the handmade acacia type trees, or the flowers at Michael's
Thanks in advance

For scrub, what about pieces of rubberised horsehair?

I found that the smaller plastic tree armatures from Woodland Scenics could be squashed down to give a flattish top before glueing on foliage clumps and looked reasonably convincing.

For E Africa, euphorbia trees are more of a challenge and I've yet to find convincing sisal plants, complete with the distinctive flower spike.

Thank you Henry Martini for the suggestion of Murray Bridge Trees.
Never seen them before but, fingers crossed, will be getting some of their products.
