We were able to take the Starfleet FiveCore rules for a spin tonight, it went very smoothly. The credit of course goes to Ivan Sorensen of Nordic Weasel Games for his brilliant FiveCore rules. My phone died earlier in the evening, so no pictures of our game.

We went four Klingon D-7 cruisers vs. a Federation Scout, two Cruisers, and a Heavy Cruiser. The Klingons lost a D-7 to phasers and another due to systems down resulting in the ship going out of action. The Federation lost it's Scout to disruptors, the Heavy Cruiser to multiple photon torpedoes, and both Cruisers to boarding actions.

So yes, my wife once again bested me in wargaming; this time with rules that I wrote partly myself.

We are going to play again tomorrow, and hopefully I will be able to take some pictures…

You take the credit for this one mate :-)

If it's any consolation, I lose games I write all the time ;-)

Hmmmm. Someone asked me about spaceship combat on my blog the other week and I did not realize you had some. I will have to point him to you also.

Which rules are these?
Have not seen them yet, are you playtesting?

They're Coyotepunc's personal Fivecore variant, which he's posted about before. here's the link: link

Thank you, cheesesailor77. I am just getting back to Ye Olde TMPe.

Mike Mayes, we are at an advanced playtest phase. Weasel did sll the heavy lifting by writing FiveCore, but I need to make sure all the little tweaks don't break the game. We weren't able to squeeze in a game today for a couple different reasons, but we hope to hit it a couple times tomorrow.

The big test will be the Cloaking Device rules, which we hope to get onto this weekend.

Wow, 4 of 4 lost (2 captured). Ok it was not a 'banner day' for Starfleet.
It sounds exactly like one of those, the dice failing just when you need them them most, days. Been there. (

Having never played SFB's or even seeing a weapons chart for the game, Im not sure how they compare, Phasers to Disruptors etc.

Most of my ST 'weapons training' came from the show (TOS). IIRC, I never once recall a Klingon even having phasers or torpedos.

Best of luck on the cloaking rules. Those are a challenge to say the least.
