Really should have done this with the original KS…

And damn it, I'm tempted to buy one standard box and one reverse-colored box.

jfleisher07 Nov 2016 11:14 a.m. PST

I tried to talk them into it back then, but they insisted the cost was going to be in the 100K range for the molds. Apparently they figured something out.

boy wundyr x07 Nov 2016 11:54 a.m. PST

These are 6mm right? I looked but didn't see it anywhere obvious on the page.

jfleisher07 Nov 2016 11:56 a.m. PST

Yes they are, I think 1/300 was always the scale mentioned.

nvdoyle07 Nov 2016 12:14 p.m. PST

Yep, I just got a response from the Community Manager, that they're the same scale, but updated sculpts, especially some attachment points.

wminsing07 Nov 2016 12:23 p.m. PST

EXTREMELY tempting!

McWong7307 Nov 2016 12:38 p.m. PST

That got me off the fence.

The Beast Rampant07 Nov 2016 1:22 p.m. PST

Well, THAT took long enough.

boy wundyr x07 Nov 2016 2:06 p.m. PST

Cool, thanks for the answers guys, that will get me off the fence too.

DesertScrb07 Nov 2016 5:10 p.m. PST

Scale is 1/285 or 6mm, same as the metal minis.

33 minis for $42 USD (that includes the shipping cost)? And TWO Ogres!?!
This may be the first Kickstarter I actually back!

Mako1107 Nov 2016 6:49 p.m. PST

Shipping is not included, at least in the basic sets.

The Ogres look okay, but the other vehicles are very aesthetically uninspired (perhaps that's part of their charm), old, and outdated looking.

36 infantry figures aren't "units", but actual figs, which given how they're listed, sounds like they come three to a base.

Pass.

Coelacanth193807 Nov 2016 7:28 p.m. PST

Definitely NOT interested in plastic minis. If I wanted plastic minis, I'd get a 3D printer and make my own. I'll accept nothing less than pewter.

May just have to throw in on this ?

Even if this reaches the maximum additions it is still too pricey for me in the UK. It isn't a game that you HAVE to have the exact bits for and plenty of suitable proxies are available – possibly not the Ogres, but all the others.

Might have been interested in a larger package, say 2-4 sets with a single shipping cost. I could potentially get others to share.

Mako1108 Nov 2016 12:47 p.m. PST

I'd love to see them re-release the defense and radar towers again, that used to be available. Those were cool.

They were produced in high-quality resin, but plastic would be just fine too.

Zephyr108 Nov 2016 3:28 p.m. PST

Those would probably be in Set #2… ;-)

Ghostrunner08 Nov 2016 4:30 p.m. PST

Not sure that SJG has rights to those (at least not the originals).

They were done by a third party caster with SJGs blessing.

Could be that SJG has the rights to reproduce them based on the original artwork.

ced110608 Nov 2016 9:45 p.m. PST

SJG made different versions of the units (eg. Combine GEV), in metal, so I wouldn't be surprised if they did the same with their new plastics line.

Anyway, each box gets one more GEV for 7 GEV's!

Paint it Pink11 Nov 2016 8:47 a.m. PST

Given how the ODE KS went, and the problems SJG generated for themselves, I can't say I'm convinced they'll do a better job this time round because I don't see any plans beyond the basic set.

By this I mean a player who wants miniatures will probably want the Combine basic units too, which do not feature in this KS.

Then there's the super-heavy tanks, cruise missile launchers, GEV-PCs, light-GEVs, light-tank.

Also, there's the question of all the variant Ogres (Mark 1, 2, 5 & 6 plus Vulcan), the Fencer and Doppelsoldner, and not to forget the laser towers, turrets and jam screens.

Yes the plastics are nice, yes they should have done this the first time around, but not seeing the big picture here.

ced110611 Nov 2016 7:40 p.m. PST

Yeah, they're definitely keeping it small scale (har dee har har) by sticking to the minimum miniatures set a casual or new player would want. SJG does have some experience with plastic miniatures (eg. their Munchkin plastic figures).

You can certainly wait until not just retail, but when SJG makes available *all* the miniatures you want for play.

2K until the free missile tank!

Marc the plastics fan12 Nov 2016 2:26 p.m. PST

So help me out of please. When it says pledge $30 USD or more. What happens if I pledge $60. USD Do i get two sets, or do i just pay more than everyone else?

Thanks

Marc

Zephyr112 Nov 2016 3:34 p.m. PST

You'd get 2 sets. But not sure on the "estimated" additional postage cost. That part has me wary. I might even wait and just go buy it from a FLGS when it comes out…

Personal logo Parzival Supporting Member of TMP18 Nov 2016 3:08 p.m. PST

I backed it. I'm not overly worried about the shipping going over the estimate, given that SJG is a well established company. Also, it's already over $46,000 USD funding, which for backers means several extra minis are thrown in, making that $42 USD charge even more of a great deal. And if it continues to break funding levels, a slew more goodies will wind up in the shipping box. So call me selfish, but I want EVERYONE to back it. The more who back, the more everyone gets… And the more likely they are to do the expansion sets with special units for the GEV fans.

Captain Gideon19 Nov 2016 8:37 a.m. PST

Sorry Parzival but I just can't I've had my OGRE fix a few years ago and it was the Metal OGRE minis that I was into.

But things have changed as of late which means I'm not really into OGRE anymore although I still have a small OGRE force for both sides but I've gone on to other things.

But good luck with that.

One other thing I only backed 3 Kickstarters so far one was Imperial Skies and the other two were Axanar related, but if another KS comes up that I have interest in I might do it again.

Personal logo Parzival Supporting Member of TMP22 Nov 2016 8:26 a.m. PST

Over $52 USDK so far. Lots of extras now in the box. Last basic backer extra mini (infantry stand) hits at $70 USDK, then they start adding stuff only for significant add-on purchasers, though after $100 USDK backing they're hinting more stuff may come. I'm tempted by the Glow In the Dark Mark III, though let's face it, that's kinda gimmicky, especially for any those of us who plan to paint the minis.
"It glows in the dark!"
"But you've got it covered in a black and red paint scheme."
"Yeah, but under that paint, it glows in the dark!"

PMC31725 Nov 2016 3:43 a.m. PST

I backed this. I wanted to back the Designers' Edition (couldn't – lack of money!) but I'll just get 6th Edition instead!
