Which historical chariot is your favorite?

Coyotepunc and Hatshepsuut07 Nov 2016 6:47 a.m. PST

New Kingdom Egyptian, particularly the early ones with just four spokes per wheel.

Dale Hurtt07 Nov 2016 6:55 a.m. PST

I agree with NKE.

wonder how Divinci's Chariot would fare

John the Greater07 Nov 2016 7:39 a.m. PST

I always like the Persian scythe chariots. Who, exactly, thought that they were a great idea?

bc174507 Nov 2016 8:01 a.m. PST

Operation Chariot – the raid on Saint Nazaire, my favourite historical chariot!

Roman Chariot---even if most of the images people think of are movie magic and not Historical

Steampunk, of course:

Oh, historical. Classical Indian chariot is my fav. Big, sturdy and can be heavy or light, giving enemy little time to counter heavies hitting hard while lights flank.

Yesthatphil07 Nov 2016 9:30 a.m. PST

NKE but later … 6 spokes with weapon pods etc.

I like the big 4 horse Assyrian chariots.

mumbasa07 Nov 2016 10:28 a.m. PST

Sumerian chariot and 4 onagers (wild asses) that can kick sideways.

Historical Roman Racing Chariot.

Sysiphus07 Nov 2016 11:13 a.m. PST

Hittite chariots, but then you knew that already grin

JonFreitag07 Nov 2016 12:00 p.m. PST

The four man, four horse Assyrian chariot is a forbidding contraption.

New Kingdom Egyptian

Nothing says God King like racing forward in a light chariot

The hairstyles alone (human AND equine) make this a winner:

Winston Smith07 Nov 2016 3:43 p.m. PST

Yup. Can't beat the Mycenaean "jousting" chariot.

Winston Smith07 Nov 2016 3:45 p.m. PST

And I still think the Assyrian chariots had a driver, an archer, and two guys who did nothing but shield the archer and driver. grin

The Beast Rampant07 Nov 2016 3:55 p.m. PST

Definitely the Assyrian 4-Horse. That, and a big, luxurious styled beard, and all the ladies come a' runnin.

Personal logo ochoin Supporting Member of TMP07 Nov 2016 4:32 p.m. PST

I don't know, Beast Rampant. Wearing sewer pipes like the Mycenaean warrior (or a nightgown, like his driver) has definite sex appeal.

langobard08 Nov 2016 4:48 a.m. PST

Another vote for the Mycenaean chariot.

colin knight08 Nov 2016 9:20 a.m. PST

Mine is the Mitanni with bronze glistening head to foot.

The one that's on fire!

I am surprised no one went for Charlton Heston's vehicle:

The wheels alone are worth the money.

Gennorm11 Nov 2016 3:47 p.m. PST

From my rather basic knowledge of Hebrew, this is a chariot and a damned good one as well:
