My first alien force …. Using Ravenstar vehicles and micro panzer amakudari….with some ghar drones fro gates of Antares. I'm happy with the look…but trying to figure out a color scheme is tough. ( back drop is my scifi city of Shishkabob) [URL=http://imgur.com/v286CeG]

You could try searching up palettes for websites; for example: link |

Not an SF gamer, but I noticed somebody had their starships in the John Deere livery. Rather handsome, actually. So, you might want to look around at other corporate color schemes to see if any appeal to you. Grelber |

Use the colors of your favorite, or most hated, sports team. JPK |

Hi Twoball, Are you going to use them on that superb table ? If yes consider Vallejo Model Air or Military range colours. you can d/l brochures from here acrylicosvallejo.com/en_US/downloads I would consider a model colour 70882 middlestone base + patterns of 70918 Ivory or 70917 Beige or 70976 Buff or vice versa. " colour scheme maximum 3. These paints should be airbrushable also. Hope this helps Z |

I seem to remember some Aliens in some rule set as having bizarre mauve and chartreuse patterns on their ships. Go bold! They are aliens after all. |

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the responses. These tanks and apc's from ravenstar studios are big and I don't own an air brush. Once I commit to a scheme I stick with it. So I'm alil gunshy picking a pattern. I like the color palette links and yes alien colors can be anything. Just setting them up, the color choices haven't hit me. Jason at micropanzer has his infantry painted up well…. I might "borrow" his pattern not palette. I'm on leave for 3 more weeks so I've got to use the time to paint something! |

Depending on how garish you want to go… Medium gray base* with bright purple 'tiger' stripes (outlined in black for the larger ones.) * with small speckled dots in light gray/white, if you are feeling ambitious… ;-) |

I did a grey, blue & white camouflage scheme on my futuristic armor. All were muted and I used a Vietnam Era camouflage scheme. I figure alien's eyes are tuned to a different spectrum than humans. The kicker is: what's camouflage to us may stand out like a sore thumb to them-and vice-versa. |

I wouldn't go with website palettes – they are intended to not be obtrusive when reading content I would first make the decision on whether you want a bold pattern or camouflage type. I do agree that you have a great table setup, might be nice to blend in with that a bit. For a bold scheme – the advise on sports teams or corporate colour schemes is excellent. Sports "liveries" are designed to be impactful. You could also use colour schemes from another big corporation – (whispers) Games Workshop You might seriously consider using rattle cans to get the base colour – that should be more even than brushing the larger vehicles. That may change some of your colour decisions. Don't forget that automotive colours can be used, and Tamiya have quite a large range. Let us know what you decide John |

A strange-looking but very appealing one is the Berlin Brigade scheme: link |

@ Jeff, that pattern is indeed strange. Definitely has a good effect at distance and in an urban local. The link was a good read too, thank you. @ Jwebster, I will post an update photo of my first trooper later this week. @ Zrune, thanks man my table can be broken down in 10 mins… The buildings are all based. I do game on that desert locale quite a bit. Definitely appreciate the kind words on my baby…oops err my table. So far: I have native resistance infantry aliens in a brown color, w red eyes (of course.) Light green / green and Tan force called the United Colonies Maroon, brown and tan opfor. The Black Rose Mercenary force. For these aliens …. I'm going to try a light purple helmet with orange or green eye piece…and grey / green armor. A compromise of all the input. For the armor and hover vehicles/ mecha…I'm gonna snag a base coat primer from army painter…probably tan and use some light purple camo. and dip them / clear coat the final. Please kind folks keep any other great links or ideas coming… I thank you in advance ! 🍻 |

I think Leland/Black Widow Pilot did a modified Ambush pattern on some of his wedge tanks, used a royal purple instead of the red-brown color, but the green and dark yellow were standard German colors. Instantly alien tanks! |
