These will be at the top of the list when I take a break from painting orks.
Put bolt pistols and chain swords in their hands and there you have it, imperial guard allies!

Hmmm. The coolness factor I get.

You need a fluff reason for planetary Dec. To have those primo Asrares bolt pistols though.

Maybe the forges of Russ don't waste their time making puny guardsmen weapons when their inhabitants can handle the bigger ones.

Thin, but 40k has done MUCH thinner… lol.

Why would Fenris even require a PD with The Fang right there on the planet?

It is considered a Death World and due to the Space Wolves recruiting from there, is 99% likely be immune to a tithe of troops for IG expeditionary work, as that would thin the potential for Astares recruits.

(sheesh I am surprised I remember this much of the 40k stuff…)

Might I offer an alternative that is 100% canon and a throwback to "old skool" Imperial Guard?

A detachment of Kanak Skull Takers.

They can match the orcs in ferocity, and MUCH prefer close combat. Most who tried to field these units used converted WHFB Chaos Marauders, no reason why you cannot use Frostgrave Barbarians instead!

Fluff would be an Ork invasion of Fenris and the locals given advanced weapons to deal with them.

The Kanak Raiders or similar would be a good standard force to play as allies to my Wolves.

But I'll more likely play them as Ork courts-as actually, just to have something different on the table.

MarDaddy,
I'll have to start taking pics and posting what I've done with the orks I picked up from you. 120 boyz and five koptas painted.

Well,
Apparently chaos did besiege Fenris and the defense force are called Kaerls.
