Hobby-wise, that is. Did you paint? Clean and prep figures? If so, what kind? Buy anything? Play in a game? Read a good book? |

Finished up my FF Mongol command group. Archers and spearmen next. Then FF mounted archers, and heavy archers. The Mongol army is then complete. It will only take me about four months to finish. I don't get much painting done during the holiday season. TIG |

I placed a small order with Peter Pig for some Egyptian infantry and Ansar to supplement the recent purchase from a good friend of a collection of approximately 500 15mm painted figures for the Sudan. I also began touching up some missing stripes on some of the collars of the British Naval Infantry that were part of that purchase. Began an inventory of my 15mm Colonial collection. And am finishing, "Towards Khartoum – The Story of the Soudan War of 1896," by A. Hilliard Atteridge, a contemporary war correspondent. Hope to start reading tonight, "The Road to Kabul," by Brian Robson. |

I'm at last completing a very much delayed batch of 10mm figures for a commission that started a long while ago. Back problems have stopped me getting them done 3 times now but the end is, at last, in sight. 49 bases with 12 guns, 320 foot & over 200 mounted. |

After a long hobby break due to moving, Wednesday I finally finished up my papercraft Federation ships. Today, I plan to make the majority of the Whale Ship from Star Trek IV, and some space scenery. Tonight may involve some gaming with my wife :-) |

Bought some figures for frontier guides / Pathan levies in service of the Crown, inspired by Wallace Breem's novel "The Leopard and the Cliff." Wanted some Indian Raj troops that would be different from the regular establishment and perhaps less reliable, just for variety and intrigue. |

Shag, have you considered setting up a fire sale table at MillenniumCon? Or just make inventories, take some pix, and list them here for your fellow TMPers to buy. Orphaned figures can always find good homes here! |

I have been mainly working on finishing up and basing/rebasing some 15mm ACW (mainly old heritage) projects, mostly cavalry and artillery related. Also I still have 28mm Conquest Indians in various stages of painting. Also on my painting table are some OG 15mm FPW Wurtembergers and French. |

I finally received all the parts to make the fleet Napoleon III will send to Mexico to fight the United States Navy, so the dockyard at my crafting desk is full of new construction. 1866 is going to be a rude shock for two navies. Once I finish all that, I can resume work on the big pile of 15mm wagons, pack mules, teamsters and Mexican scenery awaiting gluing, painting and basing. The French army and Federal troops need scenery and supplies to fight over. :-) - Ix |

I cleaned, prepped, and primed 800 figures last weekend! Sadly, not for the colonial era – well, actually, for the AWI so sort of colonial – just not this boards colonials. All cavalry, all units with 'matching' dismounts. Plus a horse holder stand and a cavalry figure per unit, 20 units. |

Bought a boat load of Miniature Building Authority buildings. Bought the 2nd Edition of "Bolt Action" and the special dice. Just got a custom made 28mm building for my Trenton project. Sorted out my figures and chose flags for Trenton. Started research on a Stalingrad scenario for "Bolt Action." Organized my Geo-Hex and ordered a new set since he is back making them again. Getting ready for the next FPW game I am putting on. |
FlyXwire | 05 Nov 2016 6:22 a.m. PST |
I've finished painting up a couple of sections and teams of 28mm Chindits for Bolt Action, and ordered the rest of the Japanese figures needed for this project from Brigade Games (they'll wait till later this Fall/Winter for attention). I created a couple of new digital maps (printed out on vinyl) for my 3mm 3D-conversion of the Tank On Tank board game series, in order to do a connected, 2-part scenario of a Soviet assault on a German position (battalion frontage), and the follow-up penetration battle/counterattack into the sector's interior (2nd map). For as simple as this little Tank On Tank game is (by Lock n' Load Publishing), it's a wiz-bang of a system for presenting quick playing combined-arms battles for WW2. Also, getting back to finishing up the remainder of my 28mm Zulu figures. Thinking of trying out Daniel Mersey's "Playing Against Mr. Babbage" 'spawning' and AI-reaction system that's included in his new 19th-cen. rules The Men Who Would Be Kings (and also with the Anglo-Zulu War-specific version of this Mr. Babbage system that was included in the free Zulu! supplement of Battlegames magazine). I'm hoping this "Mr. Babbage" system will allow our group to transition into some coop-style gaming for our Brit Colonial actions in the future (seems like it would fit perfectly for small scenarios based on European-trained forces doing scouting and raiding missions……and the triggered response [lots of Fog Of War potential]). Lastly, a book recommendation – from Osprey's Combat "Versus" series King's African Rifles Soldier versus Schutztruppe Soldier by Gregg Adams, which is a very good read on some of the battalion-level infantry fighting that took place in East Africa during WWI. It's genuine infantry skirmish action in the bush, and has me thinking of extending my Darkest Africa collecting into the askaris and support weaponry used during the Great War for this theater too. |

Putting together another order for Britannia Miniatures 'Pathan Revolt' range. Adding some Tiger Miniatures mules to my NWF supply train. Reading 'Bayonets along the border' by John Wilcox. …..oh yes and waiting impatiently for the January sales so hat I might emulate the magnificent mountains of Rhanzlistan! |

Just received some reinforcements in the mail. Did an inventory and chipping away at the mountain of modelling/painting still to do for my indochina 1880s project. So far what's finished is: 2 gunboats (Hache and revolver) 36 marsouins 1 gun with 4 crew (sailors) 40 Chinese/native rifles 1 gun with 4 crew (Chinese) All trees, hills, and natural terrain In total there are over 500 pieces so I've really just scratched the surface. Also still need more boats, earthworks, fences, huts, buildings, and man made terrain. If anyone knows of any good 15/18mm Vietnam buildings I would be much obliged. |

Primed my AWI 'ancillaries' and a bit more – scout units, unit of invalids, unit of pioneers, civilians – mounted and foot, limber drivers and the limbers. Now over 1000 pieces primed in the last two weeks. Next up is the artillery and when done I will be across the 20% point of figures primed and ready for paint. Calculated the adjusted size of the collection and it is now a bit over 5000 – and NOT growing any larger! I think 176 infantry units, 20 cavalry units with dismounts and horse holder stands, and 44 pieces of artillery with crew plus command figures should suffice. At least for a few weeks or so while I get them all painted. |

I have been building more boats. Are Dhows and Gunboats and starting on a small Congo Sternwheeler. I have mentioned the boats in the Marketplace section also. I am also completing a Gunboat and Dhow rule set for riverine operations that was meant for a fluid battle with TSATF or stand alone. More to come. It's the Holidays and that means heavy war-game season around my house… Last Stand Dan |
