I was perusing the Battlefront website for some 1939-1940 German infantry and I was surprised to find that there were none for sale. Are we meant to use the Mid-War Grenadiers (GE702) or is there an issue with the uniform or kits that would render that historically inaccurate? Or should we use the early war GE752 Schutzen (which wouldn't give a full Infanteriezug in any case)? I find it odd because there are definitely early war German mortar and machinegun platoons, but no rifle platoon option…

I could have sworn they existed previously. Any ideas?

I know a few other manufacturers do make EW German infantry, but I am looking for Battlefront minis specifically.

I've used GE752 Schutzen Infantry Platoon (early), GE742 Schützen Platoon, and GBX58 SS-Infantry Company for my EW infantry armies.

If it is any help, I believe I've found a picture of the models I seem to remember:

So, what pack are these models?

Edit: After some snooping, I think they might be GE702 Grenadiers (Mid War) or GE703 Panzergrenadiers (Mid War) and GE701 Company HQ (Mid War). Is this accurate? Does GE703 come with MG34 LMGs and not MG42s? If they are indeed MG34s, is there anything else that would make this kit not suitable for Early War?

Thanks for the suggestions, but I am looking for appropriate Battlefront (aka Flames of War) miniatures!

Why are the figures in GE752 not appropriate?

I think they probably work fine individually, but the models you get make for a weird mix. For one, I don't believe there were many Panzerbüchsen in France. Also, you only get three squads, instead of four, which means you have to buy an extra platoon to be up to strength. For all that, the models aren't all that good… They seem a bit stiff, to me. I am personally a big fan of Flames of War models (not a fan of their games, but that's no problem). Their line is hit or miss, but the good stuff is very good in my opinion (at the very least, it is the style I like… large enough so that they look perfect at table-level).
