Evidence strongly suggests that the brown dwarf WISE 0855 has water clouds. WISE 0855 is only 7 light years from us (interstellar spitting distance), which also makes it the seventh-closest known object outside the solar system.It's very cold. link |

That is interesting news. Thanks for sharing. Been seeing headlines that the scientists are detecting some radio messages that may indeed be aliens trying to communicate. Also, just recently saw they've upped the number of galaxies in the universe to about 2 trillion. Now, we just need FTL engines. |

Makes sense : While not stars, brown dwarves produce a lot of energy in the form of infra-red ( Heat) and have atmospheres like gas giants, so if the pressure is right water vapor would be stable as clouds around one. Life forms, though? IR is a fairly low-spectrum source of energy, then again, look at the life that clusters around volcanic vents beneath the sea . . . |
