Hello all,

Thought I'd post up some WIP images of an ongoing terrain project here to see if anyone has any good ideas or suggestions going forward:

This is the basic city layout. Here are some roads on two levels, a bridge and a set of stairs.

Here are some underground bunker modular corridor tiles:

And here are the corridor/room tiles combined with the interior of the city raiser blocks:

I'm currently doing some road ramps to allow vehicles to go between levels, some city ruins and suburb tiles. What kind of things would be good added to the layout do you think?

Very Very Nice work. Never of doing modular tiles within a building box.

With the linking lugs (the L/J shapes on bases) you may want to drip some thin super glue on the cut edges of these, as the MDF will tend to delaminate when they catch on moving.

Regards

MMG.

Looking good! I'm a big fan of multi-level boards, so love what you're doing there.

That is fantastic, very cool! If I may, how much do you figure that setup cost you?

Impressive work! Are you going to produce any of this for sale?

mesquite6302 Nov 2016 5:45 a.m. PST

Thanks all,

MMG, thanks for the tip about delaminating. I will try a light coating of PVA. They've been okay so far and have been moved around quite a bit.

If there was demand then I could potentially put these up for sale when I've finalised the designs. Probably on eBay to start. They may be slightly more than people are used to paying for laser cut MDF though, due to the machine used (it's bloody slow).

Hopefully have some ruins, suburb houses and full bridge system done in the next two weeks.

Safety signs, road signs trash cans etc. Advertising, graffiti….

Things to add: funny scifi billboards. Second graffiti.

Looks great though!

Never [thought] of doing modular tiles within a building box.

We can tell how much it hurt to say that.. ;->=

Make 'nestable', small corridors inside larger rooms, and, with a little protective packing, the whole thing works for stow-and-go.

Now, MMG, you can up the stakes by designing modular space ship interiors!

Thats amazing.
So this was a…
1) project for RPG, Pulp, Apoc. gamig you do.

2) starting point for producing and marketing your own terrain.

3) OR simply a.. 'I wonder if I could do this?"

Just curious mind you, either way, I repeat myself; Amazing work. I love the 'bunker' layout.

IF you can get the production 'time/cost' to a resemable level, I think this would 'sell itself'.
Especially if they could be dismantled for storage/travel.

Excellent designs and the modularity is obviously an excellent idea. Maybe consider getting them cut by a professional service. May come out cheaper.

I am salivating!

I would think this could be used also as a subway system…

mesquite6325 Mar 2017 5:13 a.m. PST

Thanks all!
@ Part Time Gamer, it was a mixture of all three. I have been devising a set of simple mad max / fallout inspired rules for an RPG skirmish game and needed a good mix of terrain with multiple heights to make things interesting.

Been spending most of my designing time tightening up the previous terrain pieces, but did manage to get a building template sorted out. Needs some card details added yet.

Did someone say subway system…?

Love it. I'm unlikely to buy it, but I love the work. If only I could win the lottery, retire and get myself a laser cutter and time to design! It really is an awesome medium.

That last picture reminds me of the scene in Equilibrium, when all the citizens are walking up the steps like human lemmings.
