Or is it ready to go out of the jar? I have always used velajo, and I have always thinned them with water. Thanks for any assistance

I haven't used Howard Hues paints for a long time, and only had a couple colors when I did. If anything, they're the opposite of Vallejo because their pigmentation isn't as heavy. You'll probably need to apply more than one coat of Howard Hues paint to get opaque coverage. Depending on how you like to paint, this isn't necessarily a bad thing.

So yes, Howard Hues paints are ready to go out of the jar, unless you're using them as a wash, etc. These are the impressions of someone who used them sparingly in the distant past.

I use only some colours: Canvas and Colonial Khaki. Since the paint is not "liquid", I first make a small hole, put a few drops of water in it and stir. The jars I have are at least two years old !

I used them for years. And since they are acrylics, I've always used H2o!

I use them from time to time. Often just the right color and properly labelled, but a tad finicky. Clean up with water, but when you're trying to bring back an almost dead bottle, use Tamaya Acrylic paint thinner. (X-20A) Also not a bad idea to use a little Vaseline on the threading so you can open your bottle without difficulty.

Howard Hues are a fairly thick paint. I have used them for about 15 to 20 years or longer. I like em. Just check on them to keep them from drying out.

Anyone know what happened to Jeff Howard?
