I saw that there was some discussion of Polly Oliver 15mm AWI figures being back on sale in 2014. The discussion tales off and it looks like the website was only active a few months. Did they go under again?

The link is working for me:

pollyoliver.co.uk

I think in 2014 they had a different URL which has changed to the above.

Yeah I found that but everything is from 2014. I emailed them to see.

I know I successfully bought figures from them a bit over a year ago. Not sure of their current status.

They are in Sheerness which is within easy distance of Salute. I expect they will be at salute in April?

I bought from them about a year ago and the website looked just the same as it does now. I think it just hasn't been updated in a while. Their service was very good. I put in an order online and the figures arrived the next day.

The only thing: big bags of 24 of essentially 1-2 poses.

So no website updates in a year or more, plus no one has ordered or heard from them in that time? Go with Blue Moon.

HMS Exeter30 Oct 2016 1:41 p.m. PST

Blue Moon is rapidly becoming the Borg of 15mm. Look at their stuff. Look at everybody else's. Compare the prices…

Resistance is futile.

I emailed them and they responded instantly.

I'm glad to hear they are still going. I was very impressed by their figures and their service.

Did they ever remake their horses, which were always the weak part of their range? (Ironically, just like Blue Moon.)

SJDonovan01 Nov 2016 1:28 a.m. PST

I don't think so. I bought a couple of commander figures and the horses they came on were so bad they made the Blue Moon ones look good (with both ranges it looks like the sculptor was working from a child's drawing of a horse rather than the real thing).

Does anyone make decent 15mm AWI cavalry? Even with Minifigs, which is my range of choice, the cavalry is the weakest part of it.

(Warning: the artillery has been "up next" for a few years now. Just sayin'……)

Thanks SM,

I'd forgotten about Extra Crispy's site. Having checked it out I have to say I don't think any of the horses look particularly good (with the possible exception of the Jeff Valent ones, which as luck would have it are the ones that are no longer available).

I generally stick with Minifigs for everything and I don't mind their AWI horses (which seem to have been designed to look like 18th century prints, with small heads and big bodies) but the riders do look like they are sitting a bit low in the saddle.

You might also consider newer ranges such as the Peter Pig range (300+ sculpts). the PP cavalry are one piece, which is great for rider integration.

Sorry – forgot about the PP range.

And very well researched and designed it is, too!

Yes it is but I cannot release the name of or researcher, it is top secret.
