Here are pictures of some more decal work. All models are from Armaments in Miniature and are 1/200 scale. The files are not in the web store yet but I'm working on that. Some will also be available through Armaments in Miniature. P-51b/c Salem Representative

Really like your aircraft and especially the bare metal shine. Is it burnished? Do you dull coat after putting the decals on or leave it all glossy including the decals? Great job. Mark |

Wow, really good stuff. Any chance some of the specialized stuff could be shrunk down to 1/600? |

Thanks all. I hope to have these decal sets available soon. Microbiggie – The bare metal on the models above is aerosol aluminum paint. I coat it with Future before I apply decals. These decals are test runs and I haven't sealed them yet. I will usually cover the dry decals with another coat or two of future. Depending on the look I'm after I'll either spray them with gloss or matte finish. For a weathered look I lean towards the matte finish. boy wundyr x – I haven't tried to reduce them yet. I'll have to see if I have any 1/600 minis of what I've done in 1/200. I imagine many of them would just be colored spots. Kevin

Great work! Thanks for thinking of the Russians also. Are you going to make 1/285 versions as well? —Rolando |

Rolando, I may do some 1/285 or 1/300 on commission but from my perspective, I-94, Scale Specialties, Dom, and MSD games have a very good selection of decals in those scales. For the time being, I will concentrate on 1/200 scale decals to support the Armaments in Miniature range of models as well as some models from the Air200 line and those available through Shapeways shops. Kevin PS – I'm doing the decals in my spare time in the evenings and on weekends. During the workday I try to devote myself to painting miniatures. :) |

Just going to echo what everyone else said.. those look great. The paint jobs are terrific – especially like the cockpit glass treatment. The decals look excellent too. Some practical questions would be around how they are printed, i.e. do they have to be cut around and so on.. |

Khusrau, here's the previous thread which contains info about the printer. TMP link The decals do need to be cut around individually, although I do try to position graphics, such as national markings and aircraft ID or tail stripes and serial numbers, to reduce the number of cuts required. The following are models I worked on yesterday, more test runs. There are before decal and after decal pics. The wing walk on the B-17C/D's left wing is a single decal. It was a bit of a bother to get in place and begs to be ripped or have air trapped under it. I'll probably end up making it a segmented decal for ease of application and graphics arrangement. Cutting and applying decals are among my least favorite activities in the model finishing process. The more I can make the software and printer do, the less I have to do. B-17C/D before decals
