Think I have discovered the best rules (at the moment) to get some fully painted armies on the table. The adaptation to Lion Rampant can be found in WSS 82.
My multi basing is easily fixed with small dice for casualties. First battle will be Hebrews from King Saul era against the Philistines. Like the small size of armies and as such, just need to organise/paint up some skirmishers. As it will be solo thought pre battle fight between David and Goliath would be nice. Ark of Covenant will also feature to increase morale. Points and how is work in progress.
May just put 3 chariots to a unit for Philistines rather than recommended 2 as I have them ready to go.
Will post a few photos on blog when done.

It would be great if (somehow) all the "Rampant" variants out there in various magazines were pulled together into a single pdf.

Yeah, I just printed off the rules from my PDF of that issue. Very interesting. Plus, since I have been looking for a set to use with my 1/72 figs that allows me to get stuff on the table more quickly. I also thought there was a Trojan War variant somewhere.

Please do post pics. I'd love to see what you do.

Thanks.

We tried the rules, and they work quite well.
The new boasts are particularly good.
But in the end we were a bit dis-satisfied; it felt more like a Medieval skirmish than chariot warfare. Not really a surprise as that's what the rules were written for.
The Trojan variant is the subject of a long discussion on the Lead Adventure forum.
