I wonder, prior to "Vikings" from "The History Channel" I don't think that I ever saw a Viking with a Mohawk. I know that they've played fast and loose with a lot of things, for example no Viking wears a helmet in it which leads me to ask, were Viking Mohawks actually a thing? |

From the research I have done in the past, a shaven head was the sign of a slave. The Mohawks were one turn off for me from the show, which I really tried to love. They lost me forever when they used 16th century cavalry helmets on the Anglo Saxon warriors though. I just couldn't get past it, and quit watching half way through that episode. That being said, the miniatures aren't too shabby. |

I didn't mind the look of the actual vikings themselves but I agree the costuming of the English was pretty bizarre. I think this is the third "not" Ragnar knocking around at the moment. |

They also have shieldmaidens coming, special for all the historically accurate collectors.

Yes, those helmets bug me as well. I still watch from time to time but for me it's that in the show being a Viking is pretty boring. Now that's probably accurate but when I was a kid the whole Viking thing grabbed me, a life of adventure, fighting, drinking, feasting, and plunder seemed really cool. And also stuff like when the Anglo Saxons caught and decided to crucify Aethelstan, and now this French guy who is into weird sex practices and Ragnar has a Chinese slave who is feeing him I guess opium? It's just not for me. |

None of you have ever seen a Viking with a Mohawk to this very day. The hairstyle you describe as a "Mohawk" is more likely the programs interpretation of this: link |

Actually I find it quite good (aside from those helmets). There is an element of dramatic licence for the masses, helmets and uniforms for the saxons. And while David Simon (The Wire) would have said "f#$@ the average viewer" if he was making the show, not all networks and companies can do that. Has to make a return for the investors and it manages to be entertaining, semi historical and do that. Heck of a lot better than Game of Boobies! Stronghold Miniatures have a range of miniatures that are better than those noted above. Ordered some for my army and they look very good despite the poorly painted ones on the website. Righto. |

Except of course that hairstyle is ; a)Irish and b) looks nothing like Ragnar's in the series or on these miniatures. |

Yes Irish, but a lot of Viking influences at that time. looks nothing like Ragnar's in the series His plaited hair is gathered in the back, but there are no little, golden balls.
