Emma Thompson. (And best episode would be when she does her incomparable pig imitation!) |
Col Durnford | 23 Oct 2016 9:23 a.m. PST |
Billy Nightly. Just have say "I'm the Doctor" and you'll see why. |
Gunfreak | 23 Oct 2016 9:48 a.m. PST |
Who ever beats both Capaldi and whom ever wrote the scripts for the last season, too death. (So I assume an angry doctor who fan) |
skippy0001 | 23 Oct 2016 9:50 a.m. PST |
Christopher Walken Steve Buscemi Robert Deniro-see 'The Intern'. Michelle Forbes Julie Benz Tatiana Muslany playing the entire Dr. Who Clinical Staff Hugh Laurie Lawrence Fishburne Samuel L Jackson…"Go ahead!! Say 'Exterminate' again!!…I dare you!1 I double dare you!!!" but really-Craig Ferguson. |

Jensen Button – he's got a year off from McLaren next season! |
Weasel | 23 Oct 2016 10:07 a.m. PST |
This would never happen but I'd kill to see Daniel Craig or Lawrence Fishburne in the role. |
dampfpanzerwagon | 23 Oct 2016 10:23 a.m. PST |
Benedict Cumberbatch or Martin Freeman. Tony |

That'll be Bill Nighy you mean Carter or is your autotext taking over? |
PaddySinclair | 23 Oct 2016 10:51 a.m. PST |
Are you thinking House Hugh Laurie or Blackadder Hugh Laurie? The former is way to close to Capaldi at this point to my mind. My favourite would be Idris Elba at this point. Though Emma Thompson, if we're gender swapping would probably have my vote then. Though Alex Kingston would make perverse sense as well :) (now there would be a Doctor with issues…). |
Herkybird | 23 Oct 2016 11:12 a.m. PST |
Another vote for Benedict Cumberbatch! I could live with anyone though, what the show needs IMHO is a good senior script writer/editor. |
dick garrison | 23 Oct 2016 11:24 a.m. PST |
Tom Baker!! seriously I think it's such a shame Richard O'Brian never got the chance. Though to be honest I'd rather they just killed it off now (Really disgruntled ex Dr Who fan!). Cheers Roger. |

2nd nominations for Benz and Ferguson. Rupert Grint. Finally! A ginger! |
Chris Palmer | 23 Oct 2016 1:34 p.m. PST |
Hayley Attwell. As someone said in the comments of the article linked below, watch the Agent Carter video at the top, and picture the TARDIS in the background: link |

As the personality of the Doctor seems to change with each regeneration, Sam Neill. He could use his Irish or his Kiwi accent, and make the character a blend between the active intellectual, Dr Alan Grant, and grumpy paternal, like Uncle Hec. Believe me, it would work. |

Richard Ayoade gets my first (knee-jerk) vote,
but after due consideration, I would really, truly like to see John Hurt play a whole season or three,
and many Bonus Points if they let Derek Jacobi reprise The Master.
… although …

3rd for Craig Ferguson, but you'd have to let him loose around the script, I think. Geoff Peterson as a companion, perhaps? |

Richard Ayoade – what a brilliant idea! How about Chiwetel Ejiofor? And unless you're all joking I guess you mean Bill Nighy? |

Now he is 'Bill Twice Nightly'. |
parrskool | 24 Oct 2016 6:52 a.m. PST |
Toby Jones…. (and yes, the recent scripts have been rubbish….. bring back Matt Smith) |
Chris Palmer | 24 Oct 2016 6:53 a.m. PST |
Seeing Sam Neill's name made me think of Sam Elliot…he would sure provide an interesting take on the character. |
Silent Pool | 24 Oct 2016 7:15 a.m. PST |
Bill 'twice nightly' Nighy, on scene already and dealing … |
KTravlos | 24 Oct 2016 8:12 a.m. PST |
I would prefer a woman actor. KT |
javelin98 | 24 Oct 2016 8:57 a.m. PST |
Carl Urban! We need an Aussie doctor who can kick some serious butt! |
Hafen von Schlockenberg | 24 Oct 2016 8:59 a.m. PST |
How about Judi Dench? Or Linda Hunt? |
Roderick Robertson | 24 Oct 2016 10:32 a.m. PST |
Are you thinking House Hugh Laurie or Blackadder Hugh Laurie? Jeeves and Wooster Hugh Laurie
|
Gunfreak | 24 Oct 2016 12:52 p.m. PST |
Hugh Laurie as the doctor would go like this. Regular episodes: mix of the prince regent from black adder, and Wooster. When he goes Dark: House with the power of a super nova, poor doctor cuddy. She'll go insane as the entire universe starts playing" You can't always get what you want! |

I would add my name to the list…. but…. I am neither an actor nor charismatic enough to pull it off. Of course, some would say that would apply to most of the Doctors……. Zing!!! |
StoneMtnMinis | 24 Oct 2016 4:49 p.m. PST |
Bring back the 9th Doctor! Chris had the right blend of humor and iron will. |

If we get a female Doctor, then who should be her doe-eyed blonde boytoy that's half her age? That seems to be a consistent theme with all the Doctors. |
Scorpio | 27 Oct 2016 9:07 a.m. PST |
Someone beat me to Richard Ayode, so I will toss in Hayley Atwell instead. (Hugh Laurie gets my vote to play the Master, but only if Michelle Gomez also gets to keep playing Missy.) (And yeah, Noel Fielding was also a great suggestion.) |
USAFpilot | 29 Oct 2016 8:29 a.m. PST |
I don't know if anyone will ever top Tom Baker. He will always be the Doctor to me. Hugh Laurie was a powerhouse as Dr. House; that may have been the role of his career. |
Rod I Robertson | 29 Oct 2016 1:27 p.m. PST |
Craig Ferguson, Idriss Elba, Hugh Laurie or my favourite choice, Miranda Richardson. Cheers. Rod Robertson. |
