I read (a rumor) that the next incarnation of Flames of War was basically a port over of the Team Yankee mechanics. Has anyone taken the initiative and come up with stats for the FoW units converting them over to Team Yankee rules? thanks, Dave |

Well I'm no expert, but I'd guess you can use them as is. I hear TY is different but be darned if I can tell the difference. |

It would be the height of hypocrisy and chutzpah if Battlefront were to release FoW as Team Yankee, right after releasing the Battle of the Bulge compendium as 3.0. A Team Yankee reboot of FoW would invalidate all previous compendium. And it would tick off a heck of a lot of people. |

WWPD has the scoop on V4. The discussion has been ongoing the last few days after they interviewed Pete. It's not exactly going the TY way though there will be unit cards. Vietnam and Arab-Israeli is going to be changed to TY. |

I have hears that rumor for a while now. Plus the bigig at H-Con doing the interview on Saturday talking a new edition in the works. More streamlined. TO I keep hearing. Grimm |

All is made clear on the WWPD Podcast with Peter Simunovich – FOW v4 will be streamlined like TY, but all EW and LW lists and pubs will remain extant… |

Will remain extant until they get around to rewriting them. Version 4 is being timed with new Midwar books. I have a hard time imagining the EW and LW books will not be redone it is only when not if. |

And that is one of the reasons "everybody" hates Games Workshop. The "need" to keep up with the latest books. Funny thing. You can always change Chaos Dwarves or drop Forest Goblins. But stats for Fireflies and Tiger IIs are kind of permanent. |

The "army books" have been updated with each update of the FOW core rules in the past. I see no reason to expect v4 will be any different. Sometimes historical information has to be updated, sometimes points need to be adjusted due to changes in the core rules. |

Especially of interest is that Pete from BF stated clearly that anyone with existing V3 rulebook would get a V4 rulebook additionally for free. Just get a stamp in the old rulebook at your LGS. GW never cared about their gaming public like that (nor do most other gaming companies either) |

I suspect that most of the Team Yankee carry over into Flames of War will be on two things - Unit Cards (already confirmed) Incorporating modifiers into a figure's stats. So you won't need to constantly look up special rules like Protected Ammo. Instead, they'll be directly incorporated into the unit cards. Note that the special rules will still need to be included in the rulebook due to existing army books using those rules. But MW is supposed to get a big overhaul this time around, and I wouldn't be surprised if the modifiers for that era are all pre-included in the stats for each team. |

The unit cards is actually a pretty good improvement, IMO. I'm all for having all your rules and modifiers/target numbers in one place. I'm not sure the Vietnam stuff needs the points change from what is basically LateWar to Team Yankee, though. It's still very much an infantry fight, and totally balanced between, say, LW Russian Infantry and Airmobile Americans. I haven't played Fate of a Nation/Arab-Israeli War, but most of those tanks aren't the top-line monsters with the modern stabilization systems that can accurately shoot on the move. So I don't think that AIW needs the core rules changed. Unless BF is trying to use Team Yankee for all the WW3 battles, not just the 1980s versions of WW3. Because AIW units would be the same as used in the 1960s and 1970s. |
