They look fierce! I always wonder: do we know when the Picts stopped using chariots? |

We'll see how fierce they are in later installments but looking fierce is always a good start. No, we don't know when the Picts stopped using chariots. Probably about the same time as the Irish and we don't know that either. That said there are quite late Roman references to British chariots and a mention in Gildas too. The latter need not be a war chariot either on the other hand it just might be. The Feni/Gwynedd connection could possibly allow for it. Significantly,as far as I know, no chariots appear on any of the Pictish standing stones . |
