Bonjour Chaps, Have finally succumbed to the allure of the rather splendid figures that Brigade games have made. In particular, the rather marvellous French Gun crews! link link So which guns would go best with them? I note that Brigade themselves do artillery pieces but haven't got any. I'm a fan of both Front Rank and Elite guns. I'm also a great fan of Westfalia and Calpe too. So, spoilt for choice I know, but for a 4 gun battery of 8 or 6 pounders what are the best guns to go for? Cheers, Paul |

If you are impressed with the Brigade Figures, why not also pick up the guns? I sincerely believe that you will find them as equally impressive as the Elite or any other companies guns. Also, I believe that the only French 6 pounder was a Systems XI gun, which I believe no company makes those guns. If my reading is right, the 6 pd gun was based on the 8 pd carriage system. |

Both Perrys and Victrix make An XI 6 pdr guns and howitzers. Unfortunately (though only in response to this particular question) they can only be purchased with crews. However, in answer to the question, I would go for the Westfalia 8 pdrs. They are the older Gribeauval system but they are superb and can be used up until 1814 and thus match the Brigade figures period-wise. Sadly, as yet, there are no matching howitzers to make up a compagnie properly |

Yes, why not use Brigade Games guns? Artilleryman: Front Rank have a six inch french howitzer and Elite have a French Gribeauval howitzer. |

Duke, I was aware of the excellent Front Rank and Elite howitzers (with my handle I would have to be). I meant that Westfalia themselves have not as yet made a matching Gribeauval howitzer. I have my fingers crossed. |

Ever seen that Westfalia 8pdr? It is in my lead box, awaiting some attention, but at least undercoated with Chaos Black. See the quality of the casting and the undercuts they have achieved…the dolphins hollowed out etc. Only snag is that something of this quality just cries out for careful painting, not just a bit of French Artillery Green with some black metalwork here and there. It is one for careful work, to do it justice and might be too much for some. |

Hello, Brigade Games! Can you show us your guns? I only find fortress or ships' cannons on your site. GdeP |

If you follow us on FB, you may have seen some previews of new packs that were posted by Paul Hicks who sculpts this marvelous range for us. |

Late to the party… I don't have any Early French artillery yet, but I'm looking. In addition to Brigade Games, there is also Eureka Miniatures. They have French 4-pdr, 8-pdr, and 12-pdr guns, as well as 6-inch howitzers in their Wars of the French Revolution range. I'm considering both companies as I like their infantry about equally. |
