These figures are excellent, would buy them but I have a load of Dixon figures which paint up superb.
Plastic Perry figures are super to pose and paint, I have loads of their AWI figures both plastic and metal.

I thought most ACW soldiers did not have their bayonets fixed when shooting?

You could load and fire with the bayonet fixed, it just slowed down your rate of fire. The period drill manuals I have seen do say that skirmishers should not fix their bayonets unless specifically ordered otherwise.

You can always remove them. Its a lot easier to supply them fixed than it is to have to glue them on! :o)

Personally, I'm more concerned with the fit of the arms to the torso. Especially now I've ordered a box! Granted they may have just been knocked together quickly for the photos but I'm sure my Perry Zouaves fitted better than this.

Scale?

To be candid, the fixed bayonet didn't slow down loading and firing. The bayonet is slightly angled away from the line of the barrel so that there is no danger of sticking yourself, etc.

When loading while standing, the weapon is placed in front of you, centered on your body, and with the barrel pointing away from you. This puts the rammer right in front of you so it is easy to use. In this position, the bayonet is on the soldier's left side, and angled slightly away.

Those are 28mm scale.

I presume that those arms could also be combined with their Confederate plastic set bodies to form some skirmishing rebels. Though unfortunately there does not seem to be any spare rifle arms on this sprue.

Don't think there are any poses in the Confederate box that would suit as skirmishing, just going by the pictures on the website. Perhaps someone who has them could advise.

As all the figures in that box are in shell jackets I'd be tempted to do a few units of this new set with brimmed hats and a Confederate paint job. Not everyone in the South wore a shell jacket after all.

Maybe not 100% perfect but I doubt many people would be able to spot any difference and at least you would get some skirmishers thrown in!

I have the Confederates box and no, I don't think that those bodies, In a charging pose, would be conducive to a skirmish pose.
