Would be interested to know how you got that to work as a participation game. simple rules, how long people joined for, all public or guided by regular players etc etc |

Simon, it is great that you got the award!!!!!!!!!!!! Great games and figures as always!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers Mike Adams |

Thansk Mike. Marc, we used my "to the Strongest!" rules which are designed to accommodate both one-on-one games and huge battles at shows. We played twice for around 2 hours each time. Around half of the players had played before and half were complete novices. The more experienced players (and me) helped the novices. The youngest player was a precocious 7 year old (who also played last year when he was 6!). The first game I called after 2 hours as a narrow Ptolemaic victory- the second was a decisive Ptolemaic victory. In both games the machimoi did too well; a revolt of the downtrodden Egyptian peasantry was definitely on the cards. Best, Simon |

I see some of my shields lol |

Thanks all! Yep Mike, those are on the guards phalanx. I still have the Spartan ones and the Antigonid anchors. |

Excellent display as usual Simon. We are running a demonstration Command & Colours Gabiene at our local 'Little Wars' next month. So it was interesting to read about your efforts – I remember last year reading your comments about the precocious 6 year old, good he came back. Those Aventine elephants really came up well. Garry |
BigRedBat | 12 Oct 2016 2:49 a.m. PST |
Hi Gary, Thanks! Gabiene is a game I also have planned (for the spring). I am desperately recruiting hundreds of scruffy Eastern cavalry and howdah-less elephants! Simon |
Mithridates | 12 Oct 2016 4:34 a.m. PST |
Simon Not sure about the scruffy eastern cavalry but we have had to paint a number of those howdah less nellies – I have a mixed bag, Naismith, Lamming, some rather large plastic Britains plastics (with Essex crew) and now 2 much better Essex ones. I hope Victrix will bring some out next year. Working on Eumenes Kappodokian Guard cavalry and hoping they will be done for November. Using spare figures I had mainy Essex – early Saka, late Persians and some Battlestandard. Should be a good game – last year we played Zama. Garry |

I'm sculpting a howdah-less Indian elephant- so many are needed I'm going to get it cast up in resin. I'm planning to do the double- Gabiene and Paraetacene. |
Mollinary | 12 Oct 2016 9:01 a.m. PST |
Sculpting as well, Simon? Is there no end to this man's talents? Mollinary

Well, in Simons case… if he wants something done right, he's got to do it himself. ;) |

Excellent looking game there. I have a large 15mm Later Macedonian army but it does look anywhere as good as that. Thanks |

As one of the novices in the second game, I thoroughly enjoyed myself, the rules are so intuitive and easy flowing. I'm now planning my own game down our club. The sight of all those pikes was fantastic. Was that really two hours? It just flew by! |

Thanks chaps! The day flew past in a blizzard of playing cards…. :-) |
