I like them. But the clump foliage comes off little by little. Someone said to use watered down PVA in a spray bottle to "seal" the tree once completed.

My question; A light dusting or a good soaking?

You will want to give them a good coating of the watered down PVA. Not dripping, but you'll want the glue to penetrate the clump foliage.

You can also use hairspray. And yes, a good heavy coat.

I put mine on magnetic bases and after giving them a good soak I attached them to metal strips upside down so any excess glue dripped away.

I can confirm watered down PVA is a huge help for this issue.

I bought a bag of premade Woodland Scenics armatures with clump foliage, which kept crumbling off.

I fixed by preparing a jar of 50/50 water/white PVA glue, deep enough to submerge the trees. I dunked each tree completely and let the glue solution soak fully into the clump foliage. I let dry (took a couple days as I recall) and the foliage was now hard and pretty solid.

This was in I think 2001. Trees are still pretty solid. I'd say the clump foliage attrition rate has been reduced by oh 95% or better.
