A long time ago (2004) when I just started trying my hand at paper modelling I designed a modular castle in 6mm.

There is a large variety of gates, walls, towers, etc.

Somehow I updated other models to be sold, like now via our webshop papierenbouwplaten.nl but somehow I never really looked at this project again.

So, I dusted it off and made a test print on coloured paper just to see how it stood up. In reality, it has sandstone coloured walls, and slate roofs.

It's the most elaborate one of the gates, and can serve as a main gate but also as a water gate.

There are inserts for the gateways to mimmick them closed.

I'm thinking of putting together a basic pack of a complete small castle plus some extension packs. All modules would also be available separately.

To give you an idea of prices, this complexish one would have to sell for €325.00 EUR

Now I need your opinion.

Do you think it worth my time to convert everyting to a sellable standard, or would I be wasting my time? I have zero idea of 6mm gaming, so any insight would help enormously.

There also is a 28mm castle hing on one of my drives somewhere, but I seem to remember it being of slightly more modest scope. But that is for another time.

If it actually looked like an actual castle I could possibly be interested, but most model castles do not look anything like the real thing …

Then again,I doubt anyone would want to spend €325.00 EUR on a 6mm paper model. Way too expensive.

It may indeed be a bit on the expensive side, given it is a paper model and 6mm. That said, is that maybe supposed to read 32.50? I assume that is for the entire castle? How big would that be?

Actually, it's €3.25 EUR.

Ah. At that price I might have a weak moment.

Generally, though, as a 5/6mm player, I'd advise against. The only thing duller than storming a castle in a highly abstract fashion--which is how most things are done in microscale--is laying siege to one. The FUN parts of castles are sallying out to bring in supplies/sabotage the siege engines, or breaking in with a small party to rescue the princess (or the Clan hedman) steal the crown jewels or have it out with the Sherriff. This is Errol Flynn/Charlton Heston stuff properly done in 28mm.

In 5/6mm the castle sits in a corner of the board while I fight a field battle, and the thrift shops are full of suitable ones.
