As the title says, English Heritage have organised a march in period costume to re-enact the epic speed march of Harolds army in 1066. After defeating the Vikings at the battle of Stamford bridge, Harold received news of Williams landing in Sussex and set off at best speed to sort the Normans out.
The march is following the original route and has just come past my village. Sorry about the blurry photos, it was a bit windy.

One bloke for every foot of Hardrada's height? ;)

Well, it does explain why they lost at Hastings.

I'm sure that's just the rearguard, I probably missed the 5000 that had just passed by. Maybe the dust cloud wasn't made by a tractor.

They look pretty good for their age!

Love it! Great to see people with enough passion to go and do it.

Sorry about the blurry photos, it was a bit windy.

I bet Harold's official photographer said the same thing. Don't worry, we'll catch up when the tapestry comes out……
