The new colonial osprey rules being out,and of course, the inevitable VSF use. Has anyone fought on Mars with these rules yet? I was just eyeing up some Black Hat 15mm Martians this afternoon…..

Hopefully I'll get my copy soon and I'll give it a try with my 25mm Martians and let you know skink.

Anyone care to share how the game works? D6? D10?

Oh Bugger24 Sep 2016 8:32 a.m. PST

D6 only, and it has lots of potential outside of its remit. I might get round to doing the Fenian incursion and the Cape Wars with it.

I'm going to have a crack at the Franco Prussian War with it.
Republican phase of course.

It's a variant of Lion/Dragon Rampant (with some noticeable differences). So D6, unit based action.

Have got LR and DR, been playing Lotr with DR and really enjoying the rules.
Have ordered TMWWBK and am looking at mixing them with DR for some Victorian sci fi and Steampunk mash up.
Martian tripods as Greater warbeasts?
Jump pack troopers as Light infantry with Flying?

What are unit sizes? Multi-figures per base or individually mounted? Figure scale? Not knowing anything about LR so help me understand the level (skirmish, company, battalion?), please.

andyfb24 Sep 2016 11:58 p.m. PST

LR=Lion rampant Medeval large skirmish.
DR=Dragon rampant Fantasy version of above.
TMWWBK=The men who would be kings Colonial version relying heavily on above rules, same author.

In DR units consist of 6 or 12 figures, you can also use reduced model count units, like commanders, heroes etc, really it's up to your own imagination!

Search for reviews of the first 2 sets mentioned and you'll get an idea of the mechanics of the rules.

Absolutely any basing will work -singles to multibase including Impetus.
